01 - Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa).
And so after the countdown of 49 of the other highest peaks in North Wales, we finally reach number 01, Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales and England. It is blessed with a shape that any child will recognise as a mountain should be, with a distinct pyramidal peak. Very popular with walkers given the many established routes up the mountain, not forgetting the Snowdon Mountain Railway. 02 - Garnedd Ugain.
The penultimate highest peak in North Wales is Garnedd Ugain which receives less than its fair share of attention given it sits right next to its more famous peak (Snowdon). Also some confusion exists with the name Crib-y-Ddysgl sometime used. Crib-y-Ddysgl actually refers to the east ridge. Both names appear on the OS map. In this image, Garnedd Ugain towers above Llyn Glaslyn, with the Pyg Track up to Snowdon clearly visible. To receive future notifications, "Like" Welsh 50 at https://www.facebook.com/Welsh50
