Flying Fifteen Irish Nationals – Carrickfergus Sailing Club
The Flying Fifteen Irish Nationals at Carrickfergus Sailing Club proved to be a challenging event, with strong winds forcing the cancellation of the first day. The second day brought tricky conditions, while the final day saw an early start to make the most of the weather window.
With close racing and photo finishes on the line, Peter Kennedy and Stephen Kane put in a strong performance to finish 5th overall.

Niall O’Brien and Dermot Flaherty retain the Flying Fifteen Irish title at Carrickfergus.

Mirror Irish Nationals

Ross, Freddie and Elliott Kearney and Rory and Noah Higgins attended the Irish national championships at Rush sailing club. The fleet was delighted to have 2 time gold medalist Iain Percy compete with his son Leon, while recent world gp14 and 3 time Olympian Ger Owens won the event with daughter Robyn crewing.

Ross, Elliott and Freddie finished a close 2nd, 2 points off Ger and Robyn while Rory and Noah finished 7th in their first mirror event together.
Great to see RNIYC mirrors attending mirror events again!

Peter Kennedy and Stephen Kane will be heading off this weekend to compete in the Flying Fifteen Westerns in Connemara - good luck team Ridgeway Online

Ahead of the Westerns the latest class ranking standings are updated following the Easterns.

Things are exceptionally tight at the top of the fleet, with just 3.5 net points separating Niall O'Brien (4092) in 1st place from Peter Kennedy (4134) in 2nd, and the top five all within close striking distance. Local knowledge could prove decisive, as Niall and Dermot in boat 4092 will be sailing in their home waters this weekend!
With 46 active boats currently ranked across four qualifying regattas, there is plenty still to play for across the board. Safe travels to everyone heading west to Rossaveel—looking forward to a brilliant weekend of racing! 🌊🏁
