After 40 years playing for Hornsea, the time has finally come to call it a day. My eyesight and my body have made the decision for me.
It hasn't been an easy one.
I'm going to really miss my teammates, past and present, and the shower beers. I've made lifelong friendships.
Huge thanks to everyone I've played with and against, to the supporters, the tea ladies, the groundsmen and everyone who makes Hornsea the brilliant club it is.
To Lisa and the girls, thank you for putting up with the sulks after ducks and defeats, and always supporting me even when I have one too many beers after a win.
And to Mum and Dad. Dad, Terry, has been everything — teammate, teacher, groundsman and my idol. My greatest supporter and my biggest critic. Mum, Angela, there every week, making teas and helping with the ground. You've both hardly missed a game, home or away, in 40 years. I’ll always be one of the clubs supporters but now it will be on the boundary with a pint in hand.
It's been a privilege.
And as I always say — "win or lose, there's always booze."
