One to one/small group football coaching for 4-11 year olds

🥅 Session 5 saw Leo deliver a more explosive and dynamic performance than many of the England players later in the day.

Dribbling requires mastering both skill and technique. Skill is the ability to apply techniques, which are basically specific movements, to the game.

Correct body positioning and coordination between feet and legs are key to this and using the inside and outside of feet is an element Leo’s focussed upon to great effect. The smile on his face says it all really: one happy young man and a very proud coach.

🥅 Session 5 for Lee really was the culmination of balance, poise and directional change as his ball mastery skills led the way.

His upskilled footwork now allows him to accelerate and decelerate more effectively while maintaining control over the ball and his body, which of course constantly transfers energy, is also impressively reacting against external forces such as gravity when he uses his quick feet tempo.

With World Cup season well and truly upon us Lee really delivered a pitch perfect performance. And he’s a brilliant boy who it’s a pleasure to spend time with to boot.

🥅 Session 1 for Leo and his personality shone through even if the sun didn’t. His perseverance was so impressive as he weathered the hail and rain to demonstrate his dribbling skills and passing accuracy. Leo’s resilience and discipline are destined to become even stronger over the next few weeks as we work together on agility and coordination based drills. The sky’s the limit I’m sure.

🥅 Sessions 1 & 2 for the very committed Lee have mainly focussed on power and control. His brilliant listening skills are such an asset as he improves his two footed abilities with every touch of the ball. Week upon week he’s showing what an eager learner he is. This young man definitely has a growth mindset that really sets him apart.

🥅 Session 1 for fantastic Frankie sowed the seeds in terms of small victories leading to future bigger achievements as we work together from this month onwards. Football’s a game full of challenges and learning that setbacks are a part of growth really boosts confidence. Another affiliation with the brilliant What Would Mia Do Trust continues to make the world of sport accessible to young people.

🥅 Session 5 for Ant was all about goalkeeping and consolidation.

Since last month this inspirational young man’s been a pleasure to work with and get to know. His honesty’s put a huge grin on my face each week and his increased tolerance of what I’ve asked of him’s been great to see.

It’s brilliant to hear how he’s implemented some of the strategies we’ve focussed on during weekend tournaments and I have no doubt his future’s bright in that safe pair of hands.

🥅 Session 1 for Ant who listened and focussed so well on self regulation interspersed with activities including dribbling through gates and mazes. It was totally infectious to share in his excitement and enthusiasm this evening.

🏫 It was great to spend the day at Trafalgar Community Infant School working with small groups and on a one to one basis across Years 1 and 2. These children clearly know the benefits of physical activity and really impressed me with their listening skills, teamwork and perseverance. The sun even shone for us all too!

🧠 There’s no doubt some children take longer to learn the basics of football than others and my one to one sessions provide a nurturing environment in which they can gain confidence in all areas of the sport and life in general.

As a coach I work on targeted areas of each child’s game and outlook to overcome obstacles in their football journey, learn the correct techniques and develop a sense of self acceptance according to their specific needs.

Group and team sessions are proving increasingly difficult for many youngsters for a variety of reasons. With one to one coaching the focus is entirely on each child as an individual which allows them to showcase their unique strengths and work on areas for growth in an environment in which feel valued and heard. It really is a true investment in themselves and their futures.
