There were a few career milestones and personal bests achieved at the weekend.
Congratulations to all on their achievements.

Saturday 5th September
The 1st XI completed their league season with a home game against Three Bridges 2nd XI.
Having won the toss, we batted first with Rohan Patel opening and making his second consecutive half century the score progressed steadily to 83 when he was third out. Jack Gold (25) and Rhys Beckwith (22) add a few more runs before Rob Deane at number eight struck a quick 49 from 29 balls with 5 sixes before he was last out with a moderate 219 runs on the board with over four overs remaining in the innings.
In the Three Bridges innings, things all went well with wickets falling at regular intervals with Max McAteer performing best with 3-23 from his nine overs. There was a little bit of resistance from the last few wickets but eventually they were all out for 124 in the 33rd over.
Having got the maximum points, things needed to go our way in the other games, but leaders Burgess Hill thrashed Broadwater by 208 runs and won the division with 402 points and Horsham failed to beat Crawley Eagles so they end 2nd with 398 points. We finished a creditable close 3rd with 393 points.

In their final game, the 2nd XI travelled to Broadwater to take on their 2nd XI.
The host’s won the toss and chose to bat first, but found runs hard to come by against good opening bowling by Tim Street (1-32) and George Horner (1-24) and they were backed up by Lewis Fiddaman (2-26) and James Arnould (1-27), but star of the day was Will Lawson with 5-25 from only seven overs aided by three catches by Jake Lovett. Only Broadwater Captain Ryan Silverthorne offered much resistance with 51 out of a total of 148.
The reply started well with John Kimberley and Jake Lovett. Jake was first out for 19, but John remained there and when he was fourth out to Ryan Silverthorne for 56 with the score on 115 things were progressing nicely. But things changed as Ryan took a further four wickets to end with 6-18 to see Trinity on 142-9 with plenty of overs in hand. Tim Street saw off the final five balls of the over. Lewis Fiddaman then faced the next over and that produced a Wide, a four, a No Ball and the winning single to close out a nervous win.
As with the 1st XI, having achieved 30 points, we were relying on other results in the bid for promotion, but unfortunately, the clash between the top two teams of Arundel and Horsham did result in a defeat for Horsham, but they still obtained enough points to edge out our 2nd XI. So, the table ended with Arundel 431 points, Horsham 416 and Trinity 413.

The 4th XI finished their season with a home game at Lower Beeding against Horsham 4th XI.
Captain Rory Lawson won the toss and elected to have a bowl first against a strong opposition line up with the hope of taking early wickets. This almost worked, but a couple of drops let the batters off, but we still had them 27-2 as Alan Wyatt only conceded 17 of his first six overs even with James Gatward missing for the first 15 overs due to work issues. The next wicket didn’t fall until 130, but that only brought ex-Trinity player Neil Rampersad to the crease who with Daniel Winder took the score to an imposing 336-3 as the bowlers struggled. Daniel finished with 151no and Neil 113no.
The reply started OK with Alan hitting two fours in the first over, but he unfortunately sliced his fourth ball to cover. Batting at three and returning to action was Matt Cole who ended up top scoring with 15 as a bunch of single figure scores were then entered on the score card. Arthur Scott made 12no as further wickets fell to see Trinity dismissed for a disappointing 69.
In what wasn’t a good looking season from the position in the table, things were looking positive with the confidence to bat first on several occasions and a few narrow losses along the way.

Sunday 6th September
The Sunday Development XI had a friendly game against Kirdford 1st XI.
The home side won the toss and elected to bat first and were quickly two wickets down, but the innings was rebuilt with a couple of thirties and then two batters retiring after reaching their 50s. There were two wickets each for Jake Lovett and Xander Lawson as the innings closed after 35 overs with 236-6 on the board.
In the reply, Lewis Fiddaman opened the batting and retired in the 21st over after reaching 50 having had a good stand of 89 with Christian Cole who went on to make 48. Ollie Nottage contributed 21 runs to nearly cover the runs from his one expensive over. With several cheap wickets then falling, Lewis returned to bat again in the 33rd over but only made another five runs before Xander was bowled for 14 to see Trinity all out for 169.

Saturday 22nd August
This week at Victory Road, the 1st XI took on local rivals Horsham 2nd XI in an important game regarding their standing in Division 4 West.
Captain Jamie Gandy won the toss and chose to bat on a good looking wicket. Rohan Patel and Kiwi Jacob Gilkison opened the batting and progressed steadily to 60 without loss at the first drinks break at 15 overs. After the break, the scoring rate escalated and Rohan was first out for 80 with the score on 136 and was shortly followed by Jacob for 54. Max McAteer (30), Rhys Beckwith and Max Rees (24) then pushed even harder with strike rates over 150. Rhys was dismissed having played his best innings for the club as he struck 61 from 32 balls with four 6s. Rob Deane then hit 36 from 17 balls. Late wickets fell in the chase for runs as 352-9 was recorded with a total of 22 sixes hit.
In the reply, the Horsham batters came hard at the bowling to see just over a hundred on the board at drinks, but for the loss of 5 wickets. When the eighth wicket fell on 136 things were looking good, but a stand of 64 only delayed the inevitable as Rob Deane took the final two wickets to end with 4-33 as the visitors were dismissed for 201 in the 32nd over.
The top two teams were playing each other and Burgess Hill easily beat Crawley Eagles to take the 30 points and remain top. With our win, we move into second place ahead of West Chiltington and Thakeham who we play next week.

The 2nd XI travelled to Storrington to play their 1st XI.
Having lost the toss, we were asked to bat and John Kimberley and Chris Douglas took the score to 50 before John was caught for 32. When the third wicket fell on 110 in the 21st over, Chris was 39no and was then joined by Pete Horner. The two of them put on an unbeaten 152 for the 4th wicket as Chris completed his fifth century of the year and ended on 133no while Pete scored exactly 50. The innings closed on a respectable 262-3.
The Trinity bowling was up to the task of defending that and with Tim Sreet and Lewis Fiddaman both taking three wickets and George Horner two, only one batter offered much resistance with 43 as the hosts were all out for 102 in 26 overs.
With the other results, we are now in third place in Division 9 West with two games remaining. It’s all shaping to be a close finish.

The 3rd XI game was moved from Staplefield to Whitemans Green for the clash with Hindu Unity 2nd XI for their second meeting in two weeks.
With Captain Neil Collyer winning the toss he opted to bowl first. The opposition were presented with the unlikely opening pairing of Tommo Faulkner and James Gatward, but the surprise moved worked as Tommo picked up 2-13 and James 1-13 from three overs each. Arthur Scott and Ollie Nottage took a wicket each, Rob Watson two and Marcus Ally wrapped up the inning with 3-3 including the Hindu Unity Captain Roshan Patel for a well made 54 from an all out total of 109 in the 24th over.
Facing a moderate total, Warren Sweatman was run out for 14, Ollie Nottage made 20 to see him pass 500 runs for the club but Charlie Longhurst remained not out on 24 as we won off the first ball of the 21st over for the loss of 5 wickets.

This has now completed the 3rd XI league fixtures in Division 12 West (North) where we have ended up in second place by 24 points to RAM 4th XI who take the only guaranteed promotion spot. The playing record of played 14, won 11, lost 2 and one cancelled speaks for itself. The two losses were against RAM. RAM themselves only won 10 games with two concessions for 30 points each as well.
Well played to Neil and the 3rd XI.

At Lower Beeding, the 4th XI were up against Storrington 2nd XI.
The visitors won the toss and wanted to bat first. The first wicket fell quickly to Nav Prasanth but there followed a 138 run stand which was broken by Nav when he returned for his second spell. Further wickets fell with Stanley Hoult taking 2-19 from his five overs. The innings closed on 238-6.
The Trinity innings was opened by Roger Southgate and Tim John with Roger carrying on his good form and unfortunately, he was bowled for 95 when looking for his fourth hundred of the season. The score had progressed nicely to 186 at the time and things were looking good. Nav came in at number three and made 26 before he was out with the score on 225 with 27 balls of the game remaining and 14 runs needed. Captain Rory Lawson came and went for a first ball duck. 12 balls later Isaac Gorringe was bowled. 9 runs still needed. Xander Lawson was now at the wicket. One over was left and 7 still wanted when Xander struck a four, but was bowled the next ball. Gareth Jeffreys came in a got a single to get Tim back on strike who duly hit the last ball of the game to the boundary to seal the win. Tim remained on a season best of 82no while George Wastell bowled well for The Swans to take the last four wickets to fall for 33 runs.
With two weeks of the league season remaining the 4th XI are currently 7th in Division 12 West (North West).

A fantastic second Saturday in a row with all four sides winning.

Sunday 23rd August
The Sunday team were away this week playing Balcombe Sunday 1st XI.
The home side won the toss and decided to bowl. Lewis Fiddaman and Darren McDonald both made 52 before retiring and Jacob Gilkison hit 30 with a good 28 from Charlie Longhurst at number 10. With the top seven in the batting order and Charlie contributing, a total of 259-7 was achieved before a declaration was made by Captain Toby Tavener.
In the reply, Balcombe also had 2 batters make fifties before retiring and therefore got off to a good start. Eight bowling options were used with Jacob Gilkison being the most successful with 3-18. A 76 run partnership for the 6th wicket took the total to 235, but eventually the innings closed on 246-6 and a draw was declared.
