Something tells me I won’t be adding ‘highly skilled painter and decorator’ to my CV anytime soon 🤭

I’m not the type of trainer that gets mean and shouty if you’re struggling with an exercise.
I believe in encouragement that builds you up, not tears you down.

I smile and joke a lot, and if you muck up an exercise, there’s a good chance we will both end up laughing about it before we try it again.

One of the best things about having a PT is having someone believe in your
ability to do the hard things before you do.
Belief is contagious. My job is to hold the
“you’ve got this” until you can hold it yourself.

That’s what training with me actually looks like. Not drill sergeant energy - just someone ready to support and encourage you set after set.

This client got started through a free trial session a couple of months ago.
If you’re interested in giving it a go, send me a message and I’ll get you set up 🙂

Waiting to feel motivated?

You could be waiting forever.

Starting is the thing that gets you moving — and it’s a lot easier when you’re not doing it alone.

You might think this is weird, and it definitely wouldn’t work for everyone, but it works for me! 😊

Strength training doesn’t get talked about enough for what it actually does — not the aesthetic stuff, the life stuff.

Being able to dance for hours.
Swim for hours with relative ease.
To not be restricted by pain every day to the point that it stops you living your life.

This is what a few years of consistent strength work can look like.

How will I ever recover?? 😭🤭

Photos from Fit State Training's post 20/07/2026

I had a total hysterectomy in March this year.
I’d been on the waiting list for 2.5 years, so I guess you could say I had time to prepare 😆

I didn’t know exactly when I would be top of the list, but around the 1.5 year mark I knew I needed to get ready — mentally and physically.
So I made a plan to be as fit and strong as I could, hoping it would help me recover faster.

I was told to expect 6-8 weeks minimum before life felt normal again.
I won’t lie — the thought of being out of action that long was horrible, especially being self employed with no sick leave.

First 10 days post-op, I followed the advice and did almost nothing but sleep and eat.

I was very lucky to have some amazing friends and clients who cooked for me and brought me whatever I needed.
I went back to work after 11 days — no lifting anything, just being there for my clients, the same way they’d shown up for me.
5 weeks post-op, I was training myself again. Nothing wild, just gentle movement and very light weights.

I’m not telling you this to sound impressive. I’m telling you because I don’t think it would’ve gone that way if I hadn’t gone in strong.
Starting from a lower baseline, I think it could’ve taken two months instead of five weeks.

Strength training isn’t just about what you can do at your best. It’s about how it prepares you for the times you know struggle is coming.

If you’re preparing for a hysterectomy, or any surgery, building strength beforehand genuinely changes how much you can do for yourself in those first few weeks.

It won’t make you superhuman. But it helps.

If you’re facing surgery and want a hand building strength beforehand — or just getting back to it after — I’d love to help.

Yesterday, three of my clients had every reason not to show up. They showed up anyway.
Here’s what happened…

Client one had come off his bike the day before. He was bruised and stiff, but still wanted to do something.
So we used lighter weights and swapped out anything that didn’t feel good.
He left happy we’d still done a session.

Client two was running late from work and nearly cancelled. When she finally arrived she said half a session would still feel better than none.
She was right.

Client three was having a tough day. She was stressed, anxious and unsure she would be able to do much exercise.
So we sat and talked first, then worked at a pace that felt okay for her.
We ended up doing the whole session.
By the end she said she felt so much better.

Some days you won’t feel like training.
Life throws stufi at you that makes you not want to show up.
That’s exactly when having your PT waiting for you makes the difference.

You don’t have to be your best self every time.
You just have to show up.
We can work around whatever you’re dealing with on the day, and you still leave feeling better than when you started.

If you’re curious about how having a PT could help you, come along for a FREE session to find out more.

Send me a DM and I’ll get you booked in 😊

Just three sessions in and my client told me something that made my day 🥹

She had come to me with hip and lower back pain, and was looking to build some strength because she was worried it would stop her doing her dancing classes.

Today she said she’s standing taller and feeling stronger already.

The bit I love most?
She said she never pictured herself as “a gym person.”

Turns out you don’t need to — you just need a reason that matters to you!
