The Spring League fixtures for 2026 are officially underway, and we couldn’t be more excited!

This season, we are proud to welcome new clubs into an already established nucleus of fantastic female futsal teams who continue to raise the standard of the game across West Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire Futsal League (WYFL) is the only West Riding FA affiliated and sanctioned girls’ futsal competition in our region, providing a safe, structured and professionally delivered environment for female players to compete, develop and thrive.

At GWL UNITED we are incredibly proud to champion this platform, because Fantastic Futsal develops, quick decision making, technical confidence, game intelligence and creativity under pressure.

We often describe the expansion of female futsal participation as ‘Pushing Treacle Uphill’… Further growth of the league is splendid to see 🤩

Last month, GWL UNITED proudly took part in The National Grassroots Show at The NEC Birmingham, and we’re still buzzing from all the energy, love and support we received!

We welcomed the amazing Merewyn Sayers from Work Rest or Play, proudly wearing her GWL UNITED shirt and brandishing the World Cup. Merewyn was there to help us officially launch ‘She Scores Goals’, our latest initiative designed to empower more girls (and women!) to get into football and futsal across the UK!

The backdrop showed tremendous moments from our West Yorkshire Futsal League, the region’s first and only girls only futsal league, which has been an absolute game changer for girls aged 7–15.

We also had SSG leaflets on the table, providing clubs, leagues, parents, and players information regarding the exciting things happening in our community and how to get involved

Big shout out to Mick and Norristhorpe Wildcats Junior Girls Football celebrating how far we’ve come and a glimpse of what’s possible when we work together

Thanks to everyone who came over for a chat, grabbed a leaflet, or just stopped to show support. Let’s keep building something special for girls and women in sport, one pitch, one session, one smile at a time

Players are wanted for the first ever Huddersfield schoolgirls' under-11s football team - Huddersfield Hub The aim is to get the team up and running this summer in time for the start of the 2025/2026 season
