As the season ends for Mount FC, there’s a real sense around the club that this year has been about far more than just results, it’s been about progress, resilience, and building foundations for the future.
The First Team showed incredible character in the second half of the campaign, producing a remarkable unbeaten run throughout 2026 that ultimately secured their place and ensured survival from relegation. Week after week, the squad dug deep, showing togetherness, determination, and belief when it mattered most. Unfortunately the unbeaten streak came to an end on the final day of the season, although it just shows how far the squad has come under new gaffer Grant
The Second Team also enjoyed a landmark season, recording their highest points total in recent years, a massive achievement and a clear reflection of the development taking place throughout the club. Consistency, hard work, and commitment have helped the side reach new levels, and the improvement shown from the start of the season to the end has been outstanding.
Across both teams, this season has shown just how far Mount FC has come. There is genuine momentum building within the club, and a real good positive feeling around the club.
A huge thank you goes to all the players, members of committee making everything happen behind the scenes, the sacrifices lads make to show up on a Saturday, and last but not least thank you to everyone at the The Junction Pub for the hospitality.

What a season it’s been for the club.
At the start of the year, we were close to struggling to put out even one team but through hard work, commitment, and a great group of lads, we rebuilt and consistently managed to field two sides every week. That alone is something everyone involved should be proud of.
Results didn’t always go our way early on, but heads never dropped. The first team turned things around in a big way, going on an incredible unbeaten run that lasted right up until the final game of the season — a real testament to the effort, attitude, and belief in the squad.
This weekend marked the final games of the season for both sides, and although results didn’t go our way, there was still plenty to take from it. The reserves came up against a very strong Slaithwaite side and fell to a 4–0 defeat, but the effort was there right to the end.
Off the pitch, it was a weekend to remember for all the right reasons. A huge congratulations to our 2nd team captain on getting married on Thursday 💍 which brought mount members new and old back together and we celebrated with club legend Pete Leathwood for his stag doo and our last game of the season do on Saturday in Leeds. Moments like these show what this club is really about.
This year has been all about laying the foundations, rebuilding the club, and creating something solid both on and off the pitch. The bond between the lads has been massive, and it’s what’s helped push us forward week after week.
Now we look ahead. With the foundation in place, we’re aiming higher next season — pushing on, improving again, and going for league titles.
We’re always looking to add to the squad, so if you fancy being part of a great group and an exciting project, get in touch. Big things ahead 💪⚽.
Id like to end this post by saying thanks for a fantastic year lads, hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have. Will soon be Pete's big day and then onto the end of season doo 🥳🎉.

Following some recent technical difficulties regarding the club account we can finally update you all on the last couple week of results which has seen the firsts keep there unbeaten run in 2026 in there bid to stay in the division with a win and a draw against 2 very strong oppositions leaving the boys with all the confidence as they go into there last league game of the season on Saturday which will round off a very positive season under new manager Grant Markland. As for the 2nds a good hard fought win over Almondbury and a 3-1 defeat to Collegians sees them remain mid table with 2 games to go which shows how far the players as a team have come on through the season and aims to leave a good foundation to build on for next season.

Saturday’s results
Mount First 2-1 Skelmonthorpe res
⚽️ Tyler Johnson
⚽️ Gary Stevens (GK)/OG
A much needed victory for the 1sts as they battled out standing firm to deny the away team in the first half to carry on into the second with super Gary Steven’s scoring from his own box (possible own goal but we are giving it Gary) in the 90th minute to give the boys the 3 points
Mount Reserves 1-5 Holmfirth
⚽️ Pete Leathwood
A tough day for the 2nds as they lose out to high flying Holmfirth, with a selection crisis some players stepped up to do a job for most the game the boys didn’t look bad for a group of lads who most hadn’t played together before or played in years but late on fitness levels showed and didn’t get much look in and the game was out of reach. Deserved credit tho for all those who gave up there Saturdays to get a game of football on.
