Not the result the 2nd XI were looking for today but there were still plenty of positives to take from the game, with two of our Under-15 players continuing to show they belong at senior level.
Henry Roberts 5 overs, 3 maidens, 8 runs, 2 wickets
Noah Smyth 5 overs, 1 maiden, 14 runs
Against experienced senior batters, both showed control, composure and maturity well beyond their years.

What a day of cricket at Denby Dale
Denby Dale’s bowling attack came out with clear intent today Niko Fernando was the standout performer with exceptional figures of 5 for 47 off 11.1 overs. Supported brilliantly by Jordan (3/69) and a tight opening spell from Tariq (2/36), Denby Dale wrapped up the Birkby Rose Hill innings for 182 all out in 42.1 overs.
Then came the run-chase, and what a show it was!
Saj in a display of power-hitting marched to a staggering 100 not out off just 44 balls, smashing 11 boundaries and 7 colossal sixes. Supported by steady contributions from Malindu (20) and Atif (18), Denby Dale powered home to a dominant victory!

Brilliant batting from Malindu Maduranga over the weekend, racking up an incredible 202 for Denby Dale
That phenomenal performance places him 3rd on the play Cricket ECB Yorkshire batting board and earns a well-deserved spot at 18 nationally.

The trophies are fantastic, but what we're most proud of is the way this group plays the game. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, sportsmanship and determination have been outstanding all season.
These boys are making memories, building friendships and developing into brilliant young cricketers. The future of Denby Dale CC is looking incredibly bright, and we can't wait to see what they achieve next.

202. Off just 115 balls. Pure carnage!
Malindu put on an absolute batting masterclass today, smashing 30 fours and 10 sixes in a breathtaking double century.
From the moment he got going, the boundaries just kept coming. The innings finished in style too, with sixes flying in the closing overs as Scholes had no answer to the onslaught.
