Skelmanthorpe CC were edged out by just one run in a thrilling contest against Holmfirth CC, finishing on 197/9 in reply to 198/6.

The standout performance came from A. Simpson, who produced a sensational 95 from just 49 balls, striking 15 fours and 4 sixes. His explosive innings almost carried Skelmanthorpe to victory in a chase that went down to the final moments.

Strong bowling from F. Smither (2/15), S. Robinson (2/37), and J. Horsfall (1/29), along with sharp fielding from A. Simpson, R. Hird, and J. Horsfall, kept Skelmanthorpe in the game throughout.

A superb effort led by A. Simpson’s brilliant 95, but Holmfirth held on to win by the narrowest of margins.

The world cup starts today so we have decided to do a sweepstake to raise some club funds. Please contact Anne if you want a team asap and will draw them this weekend! £5 per team.

A superb all-round performance saw Skelmanthorpe U17s secure a convincing 7-wicket victory over Shepley U17s.

After electing to field, Skelmanthorpe restricted Shepley to 99/8 from their 20 overs, led by excellent bowling from B. Unwin (2-40), H. Smither (2-27) and J. Harrison (1-10).

In reply, A. Simpson opened the innings and set the platform with a composed 23. J. England (35) and H. Smither (20*) then guided the chase, scoring 105/3 in just 14.4 overs.

Fielding highlights came from A. Simpson, who took 2 catches, while B. Turner contributed with a sharp run out.

A strong team performance with contributions across all departments to earn a deserved victory. 🦂🏏💙
