Please do recommend us at Huddersfield parkrun to anyone undertaking a Duke of Edinburgh Award (Volunteering Section).

With the new school year starting, we’re running a bit low on D of E participants and would like more excellent young people to join us. They’ll be gaining some excellent volunteering experience whilst helping our event run smoothly.

Whether it’s your own kids, relatives or friends please ask them to email [email protected] and we’ll be delighted to help.

While I’m here massive congratulations to our super timekeeper Nikki who completed 200 volunteers this morning, well done & THANK YOU! 🤩

It was a lovely day in West Yorkshire this morning for event number 698 at Huddersfield parkrun. As someone whose home parkrun usually averages around 100 participants, it was a bit overwhelming but I needn’t have worried as everyone was extremely helpful and kind.

I need to say thank you to start to the awesome volunteer team! They were super polite and offered guidance where needed. This ranged from the marshals at their post to the quintet who conducted the first timers welcome before we started the event.
This is as good as time to any to remind you that volunteers are the heart and soul of any parkrun - so why not give it a try? You can email [email protected] to sign up and don’t worry, all training is quite straightforward and doesn’t take too long! Our volunteer team today was comprised of 61 members and each one did a great job!

Congratulations goes out to all of the participants… especially Colin who achieved a 96.62% age grade as well as Wendy who smashed a 82.49% age grade!

Thank you very much for having me a parkrun tourist… I can’t recommend ithis event enough!

Huddersfield parkrun – the perfect halfway stop! ☀️🐾

With a big weekend ahead, we’re travelling up to Newcastle for Matty to take on the Great North Run tomorrow, so we decided to break up the journey and stretch our legs along the way.

Rather spontaneously, we chose Huddersfield parkrun, which turned out to be almost perfectly halfway for our trip, so it seemed like fate! What started as simply finding somewhere to stop and get a few steps in turned into such a brilliant morning.

We arrived with our four-legged companion Milo, who absolutely loved all the fusses and attention he received. He definitely seemed to think parkrun was more about making friends than the running! 🐶❤️

Then, in keeping with the spontaneous theme, we somehow ended up pacing on the day too! The weather was mild and sunny, making for lovely conditions, and the whole atmosphere at Huddersfield was fantastic.

Kirsty even declared it her favourite parkrun she’s ever done, which is some statement considering we have visited almost 80 different locations! There really was something special about this one.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers for the amazing support, encouragement and enthusiasm. You made us feel so welcome and really helped make the morning such an enjoyable one. 💚👏

We enjoyed it so much that we stayed behind afterwards to help with token sorting, before rounding off the morning with a lovely bacon sarnie from the café. 🥓☕

So, what was meant to be a convenient halfway stop on the journey to Newcastle turned into a fantastic parkrun, some unexpected pacing, plenty of Milo fusses, helping out behind the scenes and a very tasty breakfast. A spontaneous decision that definitely paid off!

Thanks Huddersfield, we absolutely loved it and will be back! 💚🏃‍♀️🐶
