A little about the trainer:
I wanted to share a little about myself to show why I think exercise and especially being in the outdoors is a good way to spend some of your time.
Like many people I work most of my time indoors in an office, and like most I could eat better, sleep more and be just a little fitter but one thing I think I do well at is challenging myself and those challenges are often set in the outdoors.
I lead expeditions for a youth charity and teach people bushcraft skills, I love to try something new and am just back from a week of ice climbing in the Alps. Most of the things I love to do take me outside where I can see the horizon, get a deep lungful of cool air and feel the space and greenery around me and it always boosts my mood and my performance.
While some of those activities might not sound like everyones cup of tea I do think that anyone can embrace a little challenge in their life and taking on a challenge with support around you and in the outdoors I think is a recipe for success.

Welcome to the new page for "Huddersfield Outdoor Fitness"
For the last 7 years I have been running outdoor fitness sessions with Commando Fit but at the end of 2022 sessions at the Huddersfield venue sadly ended.
However I really believe that there is a need for more outdoor activity in people's lives so I'm going to continue running sessions in Huddersfield and i hope that people will join me!
I know there is loads of evidence out there to say that exercising in a group and at set times really helps you stick with an activity and that moving and exercising outside is a huge benefit for your health above and beyond the activity you are doing. Getting natural sunlight (especially in winter), being in nature and engaging with the outdoors is proven to boost mood and wellbeing.
These sessions are of course about fitness and health but alongside that I also believe that mental health and wellbeing are tightly linked to movement and fitness so the sessions are there for everyone from those who are just discovering their fitness journey to those looking to find new PB's and challenges.
Come along for a session and try it out, meet me, meet the group and start your journey to a happier healthier version of yourself!

"I started Bootcamp in September 2020 for 3 reasons – to motivate me to get fitter, plus to get me outside in nature and meeting new people. Apart from lockdowns plus family and work commitments I have continued since then and I love it. In fact even in lockdown the group supported each other in a daily, month-long exercise challenge, which was fun and provided motivation for us all to keep exercising.
Jack is a great PT, who knows how to push us and motivate us, but also makes sure it’s fun, so we want to return! "I joined commando fit when my daughter was six months old. I wanted to improve my core strength and fitness after pregnancy and a c-section birth. Jack was fantastic offering modifications for any exercises that I felt may be uncomfortable following the c-section and as my ligaments were still returning to normal after pregnancy.
It is great to have time for myself and to look after my own fitness and mental well-being. I love that the sessions are outside and every session is different, you can tell Jack puts a lot of thought into making the sessions interesting and fun.
The group are extremely friendly, I never feel judged or uncomfortable, everyone is very supportive. Jack offers motivation (but you never feel pressurised) and makes you want to push yourself. The three levels of exercises/fitness is great as you can go at your own pace and ensure you are comfortable at all times.
I stopped commando fit for a while when I was pregnant with my second daughter as a personal choice (although I know Jack would have been able to adapt activities accordingly had I wanted to continue).
I returned once I felt ready and again Jack has been fantastic at allowing me to go at my own pace and offering modifications/ different exercises. After only a few weeks I can feel my core strength and fitness improving as well as my mental well-being."

Profiling a couple of our members, Anne and Jo, they both put in huge effort at sessions and always overperform. Great that even after a full and hard session they are brimming with energy and pound out another 5km at the local park run!

One of the many benefits of our fitness classes is we always train outside, fresh air and nature have their own benefits and occasionally you get the added bonus of a beautiful sunset

Given the heat of the last week or so sessions have been extra hard and so the effort everyone has put in has been especially impressive, give yourself a big pat on the back and enjoy the summer!
