Great news for horse riders!β οΈIMPORTANT NEWS β οΈ
The Highway Code is being updated from the end of January 2022 to help protect vulnerable road users.
These updates to the rules aim to protect the most vulnerable road users. Creating a hierarchy of users, including pedestrians, particularly children, older or disabled people, cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders.
With regards to passing horses, road users must
βΊ Pass horses/horse drawn vehicles under 10MPH
βΊGive 2 meters clearance, if it is not possible (it will be the law) to wait until it is clear to do so.
Thank you for passing us all wide and slow, it does matter, it keeps us all safe.

π΄π Quick Fixes ππ΄
Meet Jack, ex racer who was purchased by one of my lovely clients back in October 2020 ππ»
As you can see he came poorly muscled, poor posture and very asymmetrical through his pelvis which is likely due to trauma or fall while racing/training ππ»
While hands on physio has most certainly helped him along the way there has been no quick fixes!!!
The first picture was November 2020, second January 2021 and the 3rd October 2021 - this is nearly 12 months of strength work, good management and retraining!!!
Manual therapies are just one part of the Physiotherapy process, an appropriate exercise programme and a holistic approach is vital to help improve strength, movement and posture π
All too often I see pictures and posts of visible improvements of horses postures after one session of various hands on therapies - looks great and like we can quickly fix your issues and dramatically change your horse in one session π΄
Problem is, while there often are noticeable differences to the way horses stand and even feel after hands on treatments the results of this are going to be short lived unless we put the time in too π
Hands on therapy isnβt going to suddenly fix and re educate correct movement patterns, strengthen muscle or help maintain a better posture!
This also takes the dedication, hard work and consistency of an appropriate rehab/exercise programme alongside other techniques, such as manual therapies/electro therapies that help optimise tissue healing, reduce pain and improve function depending on what your individual issues are!!
Beware of clever marketing photos and quick fixes if you want to truly improve your horse long term there are no shortcuts π¦
Jack is huge credit to his owner and thanks for let us share his pictures!! β€οΈ
