RAWTHORPE'S SEASON COMES TO AN END AS LITHUANIANS PROVE TOO STRONG IN THE PLAYOFFS.
All was going well for Cobras in the initial 18 minutes, however Lithuanians changed their approach to go on a 13 -2 run to finish the half. Rawthorpe couldn't grapple the impetus back and Leeds extended their lead. Although the 4th quarter was a much more even affair, Lithuanians held their nerve and hit some clutch buckets to secure the win by enough points to proceed into the playoff semi finals.

A good start to the playoff tonight by Rawthorpe Cobras who edged a tightly contested first quarter, taking it by just two points after a strong offensive showing. Gastaldi-Davies set the tone, while Dennis added a crucial late basket to ensure the Cobras held a narrow advantage at the break.

Swaine carried that momentum into the second quarter, opening with a three-pointer just as he had in the first. However, the period soon became dominated by Dennis and Gilchrist, who combined for six consecutive baskets in an impressive scoring run. Despite a late burst from Wilson, Rawthorpe couldn’t maintain control of the 2nd quarter, slipping by three points and heading into halftime trailing by one.

Dennis stepped up in the third quarter with a standout performance, leading Rawthorpe's charge and helping them reclaim the lead. His scoring proved decisive as Rawthorpe moved four points ahead going into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Rawthorpe proved too strong for Leeds Lithuanian. A well-rounded team effort saw them pull away decisively, dominating the closing stages and winning the quarter by nine points. That surge sealed a convincing victory, with Rawthorpe Cobras finishing 13 points clear at the final whistle.

After a tough old season Halifax left it to the end to get it together. They did their best work in the first half establishing a 12 point lead. Demons came out strong in the 3rd, previously Cobras would have run out of gas but the addition of Figueiredo to the squad made a big difference to second half energy as Halifax put in a defensive shift. They edged each quarter to win all 4 quarters for the first time this season and take a comfortable win. Dodds led the scoring with 18, Stansfield and Fray both hit 9, Rushworth and Martindale got 6, Whiting, Magill and Figueiredo combined for the remaining 11. Great team effort.
