A huge well done to Brad who ran the Maverick X-Trails Peak District 50km this weekend. The race boasts around 4000ft elevation and this weekend was a scorcher, but this didn’t stop the determined Brad who flew round the course in 7:03:24 🏃♂️ this fella has big plans, and we can’t wait to see what else he does this year 💚
Top running Brad 👏🏼

Tuesday was a glorious evening for the 2nd race in the 2026 Yorkshire Veterans League at Kirkstall Abbey.
The heat of the day had cooled a little by the start at 7.30pm, conditions were obviously dry on the trails and there is a good bit of road on this route so the road trainers were on for most runners.
Thanks to for the route & great marshalls
We picked up a few vets category prizes too:
Continuing their 1st place age cat wins are FV35 Amy Connor & MV70 David Taylor.
A welcome back to the vets races for Toni Purvis & Paul Senior grabbing 3rd FV35 & 2nd MV50 respectively.
Great running & repping from all the Strider Crew. No matter where you finish everyone gains points for the overall team.
If you're in it, we can win it!!
Fancy being part of the vets races, then its not too late to join in with 8 races left. If youre over 35 then give us a shout to find out more.
Next up is STAINLAND- Weds 10th June.

UTS - ULTRA TRAIL SNOWDONIA!!
What a couple of days of dot watching over the weekend. Multiple distance races all around the Snowdonia region. Some going up and over Snowden numerous times!
Jimmy was off 1st, on the new for '26 distance of 80km. After a period of illness and inability to train, he put on a brave performance but it wasn't to be, sadly having to pull out after a heroic performance! Rest up & recover, Jimmy.... we'll see you back fitter & stronger.
Next to set off was Tom on the long 100km. Tom is no stranger to these distances, his races include 'The Arc of Attrition', 'Lakeland 100' & 'Three Peaks Race' to name a few. His training was hampered by a twisted ankle only a few months back. A gruelling 18hours 53 mins with over 5500m elevation saw him crossing the finish line. 'Never ever again!' Was the quote.... hmmm we think differently!!
Last but not least to go were the 50km distance trio of Jordan, Andy & Steve.
Jordan has been running really well & training had been spot on coming into this race and it showed. Great performance up at the front all the way battling for the podium, it wasn't to be on this occasion but a 4th place in this elite field is absolutely insane! Twice up Snowden plus other mountains in the Snowdonia area with over 3000m elevation in just over 6 hours!!! Wowzers. Congratulations Jordan, much deserved!
Andy had been concentrating on his hyrox training at the beginning of this year so training his elevation was at a minimum. He went into the race to enjoy it and 'take it easy'. Well if finishing 20th out of over 1200 runners and 1st in age cat is taking it easy, we want some of what youre having! Leading our Strider crew by example and we couldn't be prouder!
Steve completed the Haworth Hobble in March a little test before this race. Given the distance, terrain and the unforgiving weather he absolutely dug deep to keep going, using the check points to refuel and reset before getting back on the mountains to finish it in style!!
Absolutely insane running, what a crew 💚

36 (you read that right, 36!!) of our fabulous striders travelled over to complete the Calderdale Way Relay yesterday. This is always a highlight of our race calendar, and we were ecstatic to have enough runners to enter 3 teams this year! 💚
We had a mixture of newbies to the race and seasoned relay regulars, and it was great to have us all together at the end to cheer through all the finishers - it is days like yesterday that serve as a testament to how special our club is and how we all come together to support each other, and have a good laugh whilst we’re at it! And of course a HUGE well done to Amy, Mark and Duane who captained our teams this year and worked out all the logistics… without a single excel sheet 😉
Our Open team consisted of Callum & Scott, Sean & Brad, Joe & Cleggy, Dave & Duane, Chris & James and Paul & Paul - they came 11th in a very strong field of 50 teams in a brilliant time of 7:44.
We also had a ladies team consisting of Megan & Toni, Elizabeth & Kate, Louise & Laura, Michelle & Laura, Amy & Megan and Carolan & Steph.
Last, but by no means least, we had our mixed team consisting of Keithy & Matt, Nicola & Connie, Rachael & Oliver, Mark & Lucie, Rachel & Rachel and Sam & Anna.
A big round of applause to all our relay-ers! 💚

The Yorkshire Veterans League Races are back and so are the Toblerones!!
A strong team of striders hit the 1st trail race of the season starting in Honley put on by .
A sunny Sunday last weekend after the showers of Saturday saw a good mix of mud & gravel tracks.
Andy pulled a win out of the bag despite going the wrong way in the 1st section of wood. He managed to join the pack and work his way to the front with a mile to go!! Think he might need an eye test - The course was well marked & marshalled!!
Great running by everyone, picking up much needed points for the series. No matter the placing all points go towards team efforts at the end of the season.
Picking up well deserved age category prizes:
Ed Hammerton 2nd M35
Amy Connor 1st F35
Laura Millington 3rd F35
Andy Smith 1st M40
Paul Smith 3rd M45
David Taylor 1st M70
If you've not signed up yet but fancy a race, then get in touch and we'll advise how you can get involved.
Next race is Kirkstall on 26th May.

Cheque it out!
Our April Challenge - 72 Hour Relay raised a fantastic £2500 with help from our Strider crew, family, friends and generous donations from the villagers of Slawit.
Half will be going to & half to
We gathered last night to present the cheques to these organisations who were extremely grateful and will put the donations to good use.

Saturday, Kev took on the annual LDWA - Long Distance Walkers Association event, a brilliantly organised challenge with 3 distance options: 18, 23 or 26 miles. It’s a walkers’ event that runners are welcome to tackle too, with no placings… just the satisfaction of getting round and earning your certificate.
Starting out from Marsden, the route looped out past Booth Wood Reservoir, across to Windy Hill, then on through Piethorne Reservoir, Brun Clough Reservoir and the stunning Wessenden Valley.
The weather stayed murky for most of the day… until the heavens opened!
Kev had entered the 26-mile route, but with a recent rib injury interrupting training, the legs just weren’t quite there on the day. Once the heavy rain arrived, he made the sensible call to shorten it to the 23-mile route.
Still a cracking day out on the trails and another big effort in the bank. Well done Kev 👏
