π TODAYS CRICKET | DENBY CC 1XI v ALMONDBURY 1XI π
π Denby CC
β° 1:00pm
Denby welcome Almondbury Cricket Club this afternoon as skipper Jack Jones is able to name arguably his strongest XI of the season for the first time, with a full squad available following a spell of holidays, injuries and study leave.
There is plenty of confidence in the Denby camp, particularly after a strong week with the bat. Sheran Fonseka arrives in red-hot form after smashing an unbeaten 157 at Barnsley Woolley on Monday evening before following it up with another unbeaten half-century in Thursdayβs rain-abandoned T20 clash against Meltham.
The runs havenβt just come from the senior players either. Youngsters Reggie Pickford and Jacob Brook both impressed during the week, each contributing valuable 30+ scores and continuing their development with the first team.
Adding further strength to the side is the return of Tom Barrow from holiday after missing last weekendβs fixture against Kirkburton.
With form, availability and confidence all on their side, Denby will be looking to put in a strong performance and continue building momentum as the season progresses.
Good luck to the lads! ππ

1XI β Away vs Kirkburton Cricket Club 2XI
1st v 3rd and two teams looking for promotion this season!
High-flying Kirkburton remain unbeaten this season, having won five of their six fixtures. The only points they have dropped came when their away fixture against Barkisland was abandoned due to rain.
Denby make two changes this week, with Tom Barrow (annual leave) and Raefe Hargreaves-Hunt (study leave) unavailable. Luke Potter and Seth Metcalfe come into the side in their place.
Otherwise, Denby field a settled team and will be looking to build on last weekβs comfortable victory over Clayton West. Sheran Fonseka was the star performer, finishing unbeaten on 110* and contributing behind the stumps with three stumpings and a run-out.
