NATD STREET JAM 🔥

WHAT. AN. EPIC. DAY!

Club vibes all the way — from the venue, to the music, to the sticky floor! 😂🔥

We are immensely proud of our 70-strong HSD73 team, performers, friends and spectators alike. You represented yourselves and our school with exactly the HSD73 team spirit we’re so proud of… good vibes all the way! 💙💛

Special shout-out to our Big Tom & Lexie, who not only performed their socks off with the dance fam but also put in a full shift as part of the NATD Manchester office team; to Jenn Ennis a very special human with a special flair for photography 📸; our DJ LA Kirstie-le Kent, who absolutely NAILED IT on the ones and twos 🎧; Bboy Orange Olivier Orange Sou for a killer Top Rock workshop; and ZooNation ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company was the perfect way to finish such a fantastic, fun and inclusive event.

BUT… the star of the day, without a shadow of a doubt, was our Jemfunk Jemma Prescott ❤️
You led the day with your own inimitable flair, care and professionalism. You did us, the NATD, the Street Development Team and the sadly missed Miss Beverley Harris so very proud.
You have worked long and hard over many, many years on what has now become NATD Original Street Styles. To think that all of this has grown from a HSD born-and-bred student with a passion for all things dance and a determination to keep the OG funk styles alive, authentic and relevant… what a legacy! 🥹🔥

A dance teacher’s day-to-day life is about so much more than dance. We all juggle personal lives and their inevitable ups and downs, while continuing to motivate, nurture and champion our dance families.
We invest in our people. We build safe, positive, confidence-building dance communities and so much of what we do happens unseen, outside studio hours.
We really are a rare breed.
So today, watching around 350 people — all ages and skill levels, teachers, examiners, students and parents alike — dancing together, enjoying one another’s company and sharing those positive vibes was simply GOLDEN. ✨

As Principal of HSD73, I’ve had the great honour & privilege of being part of so many different and varied events throughout the NATD’s 120th Anniversary year, and I’m incredibly grateful for the continued support from National Association of Teachers of Dancing - NATD and the willingness to think outside the box when it comes to all things dance.
Very, very proud of our HSD73 fam.
And very proud to be part of the NATD. 💙💛

STREET JAM… you were an absolute belter! 🔥

The happiest of birthdays to our most amazing leader, an expert in all things dance, but most importantly, an all-round incredible human being. Miss S, you are always there with words of wisdom that somehow make everything feel better, no matter what the subject or situation. We treasure you, we adore you, and we are so incredibly lucky to have you. ❤️

✨ NATD 120th ANNIVERSARY CONGRESS ✨

What. A. Weekend!

We’ve had the most fantastic time celebrating 120 years of the NATD — making memories, catching up with wonderful dance friends & in a slightly unexpected turn of events… winning the Couples Fancy Dress! 😂🏆
Turns out Tommy Shelby & Aunt Polly have still got it!
Big thanks to PJ, Becky & RaRa for the borrows… couldn’t have achieved our moment of fancy-dress glory without you! 👍🏼🤣

But the real highlights were right here…

Watching these two HSDers out on the floor, throwing themselves into Ballet, Contemporary, Tap, Commercial & Musical Theatre workshops with some of the industry’s finest — & absolutely holding their own amongst a sea of students, teachers & examiners from across the UK & beyond. Proud is an understatement. 🥹
Plus another opportunity for our Funk guru Miss J to share her wealth of knowledge and continue building on the foundations of the Original Street Styles syllabus she created alongside the NATD Street Development Committee. 🙌🏼
And we can’t forget our Big Tom! 🫶🏼 Seeing him making connections & basically having a go at anything and everything he was asked to do — all with his usual enthusiasm, confidence & HSD good vibes— in his official role with the NATD Manchester office website & media team was another very proud moment.
Thanks for your company, Tom. It was an absolute pleasure to spend our weekend with you… although we’re not entirely sure you realised quite what you were signing up for! 😂💙

It’s always a treat to see our HSDers flying the flag with confidence, dedication & a whole lotta HSD spirit! 💙

A mahoosive shout-out, congratulations & heartfelt thanks to NATD CEO Mr Kevin Page, President Miss Sharon Potter, QA Manager Miss Annette Hufton, the Council of Management, Congress Committee & last but absolutely not least, the wonderful NATD Head Office team for a truly fabulous weekend from beginning to end. 👏🏼

A very special experience with the most wonderful dance community…

Nobody does it quite like the NATD. 🙌🏼

120 years young… and still dancing strong! 💃🏼🕺🏼

Roll on 2028!

Why the empty chairs?

Across Puerto Rico, the iconic monobloc plastic chairs aren’t just seating, they are an invitation. Set out on porches, sidewalks, and backyards, they are where hours of conversation, intense games of dominoes, and music come to life with friends and family.

But when those chairs are left empty, they tell an even deeper story:

Nostalgia & Family Ties: They are a bridge to the “good old days,” reminding us of cherished moments spent with grandparents, relatives, and simpler, joyful times.

Absence: Most of all, they stand as a tribute to those who are no longer with us, keeping their memory close.
Sometimes, the loudest stories are told in the quietest spaces.

A weekend of epic proportions!
A team like no other!

On stage, backstage, front of house & everywhere in between, a truly special weekend that will remain etched in our memories and hearts forever.

On stage: Our dancers, from our youngest HSDer to our most seasoned performers, were nothing short of phenomenal. You took our audiences on a rollercoaster of emotions whilst supporting one another every step of the way. This is what HSD73 is all about. You have blown us away with your professionalism, dedication and commitment to bringing our choreographic visions to life. We are beaming with pride. 🥹

Backstage: Our incredible team of past and present HSD runners worked like Trojans, led by the absolute diamond that is Sal, who always has our backs! You moved our young HSDers around the theatre with precision and such great care. Our gratitude for you all is as high as your combined weekend step count!

A mahoosive thank you to our amazing team of chaperones, not only for volunteering and supporting us, but also for the extra time you’ve given to complete the chaperone process. Our HSDers had the best time backstage as well as on stage and that’s thanks to you.

We also want to thank all of our wonderful dressers for your time, care and support.

Front of House: Gail and team, you did such an incredible job that we ran out of programmes… BOOM! 💥 Thank you for your time and for being the smiling faces that welcomed our dance family & friends. 🙏🏼

WE COULD NOT DO THIS WITHOUT YOU ALL!

A huge thank you to the team at The Dancehouse for your hospitality and support throughout the weekend.

To our audiences, the love, encouragement and pride we felt from you was second to none. Thank you for cheering us on every step of the way. 🙏🏼

To every parent/guardian we thank you for choosing & trusting us & to anyone who has helped us in any way to bring this show to life we thank you greatly 🙏🏼

A very special thank you to Jenn Ennis for the phenomenal photography of this very special HSD73 production. You capture the essence of every moment, preserving memories that our dance family will treasure forever and for that we are eternally grateful. ☺️

A BIG SHOUTOUT to our incredible HSD73 Teaching Assistants – Pippa, Paisy, Kara, Lexie, Leigh, Liv, Hazza, HK and Becky – who give your time week after week to support us and inspire the next generation of dancers. We appreciate each and every one of you. 🙏🏼

Finally, heartfelt love and gratitude to the diamond that is Miss Paige. Thank you for your unwavering support and passion for the HSD73 family. We could not be prouder of you, PJ. ‘New Money’ was absolute perfection. 👌🏼 The vibrancy, confidence and joy from the girls, not only on stage but in the rehearsal studio too, is proof that you were born to do this. Keep inspiring, PJ – we know there is so much more to come for you. 🌟

To those we’ve sadly lost, we know you were dancing beside us and watching over us this weekend, we felt it. This show was for you too. Forever in our hearts.
🐬🦋✨

We are so incredibly proud of our dance community. We have never felt so supported, encouraged, and so held.

Big love and respect to you all. 🫡

Our hearts are full. 💚💙
