UPDATE ……. We are delighted to let you know that a total of £1878.50 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.
A simply wonderful effort.
Thank you again to everyone who organised, baked, served and also washed up.

A simply fabulous Macmillan fundraiser this afternoon.

Combined with our monthly organised mix-in and lovely warm sunshine there was a large turnout to raise funds for such a worthy cause.

Jody Wood organised the mornings refreshments and raised over £500 and Sarah Bingham supported by Jody and a team of ladies took over and ran the afternoons tea and cakes taking the total raised to well over £1000.

Thank you to everyone who helped and to those who provided such a wonderful array of cakes, you were all brilliant.

We will give you the final figure once all the donations have been added up.

🎾 WALKING TENNIS CLUSTER FESTIVAL 2026 🎾

Planning for this year’s second Walking Tennis Cluster Festival began back in July, with 11 clubs across Kent showing interest in taking part.

Today, Hythe LTC was delighted to host Whitstable Tennis & Pickleball Club and Marke Wood Recreational Ground, Walmer. Unfortunately, St Margaret’s-at-Cliffe were unable to join us this year, but we hope to see them next time.

Play got underway at 12 noon followed by a lovely buffet lunch. 🎾🥪☕ Marke Wood & HLTC provided the savouries and Whitstable provided the cakes!

This was very much a social event, playing alongside and against different players throughout the afternoon. It was fantastic to see so much friendly competition, laughter and camaraderie on court.

Scores were collected for all 26 players throughout the festival, with each club’s total score then divided by the number of players representing that club.

🏆 The overall winners today were… MARKE WOOD! Followed by Hythe & Whitstable

👏 Congratulations to Marke Wood, and thank you to everyone who came along and played. Your enthusiasm made it such an enjoyable event.

A special thank you also goes to HLTC members Karen, Kathy, Lizzie and Heather who volunteered to help with the buffet.

Another great Walking Tennis event — and hopefully the start of many more cluster festivals across Kent!

🎾 Walking Tennis – tennis for everyone, whatever your age or ability.
