All of the Leithen Vale Sports Clubs girls Teams were in action yesterday - 6th September.

The girls were playing at home against Loanhead.

A much improved performance this week compared to last week. The girls played well throughout the full 70 minutes.
In the first half the teams were evenly matched and it was hard to tell who would open the scoring. Our defence were resolute, keeping Loanhead at bay and we hit them with some quick counter attacks. It was towards the end of the first half that we were rewarded for our efforts with Fi pressing the keeper and taking a painful deflection off her face for the first goal. Our second goal followed shortly after when a shot deceived the keeper and spun in. We went in 2 up at halftime.
The second half started well, again the girls were strong on the ball. The communication had improved as we’d asked and they were talking more throughout the game.
Referee had had a word with both teams about foul throws and this did slow down the play as both teams were guilty of multiple offences. However Loanhead came back in to the game with a goal despite the best efforts of Caitlyn in goals, who was outstanding today with her saves and distribution.
Lexie then had a brilliant solo effort where her sheer determination to drive forward on goal was rewarded with a half-chance and a great finish. Two goals in both halves and some great defensive play ensured we continued our excellent run of results.
It was good to see a much more energetic display compared to last week and girls winning their individual battles all over the pitch against a really tough, determined Loanhead team that never gave up. There are still lots of things to work on ahead of a big game this coming Friday in South Queensferry but this morning sets us up well for that game.
The girls will need to be on their toes and committed to being first to the ball against KSQ to keep up the momentum from today.
Their next league game is on Friday 11th September away to South Queensferry.

The girls were paying away at Leith Athletic.
What a performance from the girls today. It's one of their best performances so far. I don't think the score line does the girls justice.
We play three 15 minute games. We were several goals down halfway through the 1st game, but then things started to click.
I don't know what Charlotte had for her breakfast that morning, but she was fantastic running up and down the wing. Chasing through balls from defence, and putting the opposition under pressure.
The hard work put in by the girls in the first game, applying pressure when out of possession resulted in Olivia scoring a goal.
The girls continued their hard work in the second and third games, with Charlotte getting a well deserved goal for all her running. Also Olivia came close for her second goal, and Lucy was unlucky not to score too.
There was a lot of effort put in by the defence too, with Aria, Ellis and Ruby stopping a lot of the attacks, and passing out from the back to progress up the pitch.
Aria was great as always as the goalkeeper with two games in goal, and one out field. Ruby marshalled the team from the back with words of encouragement and advice, plus leading by example with her actions.
Ellis was tireless in her running to help defend and attack.
Zara was like a duracell bunny running up and down the wing.
There are still some things we can improve on, that will help them during the game. We will focus on these in the upcoming training sessions.
All of the girls will be tired after their efforts. They should be proud.
At the end if the game, the opposition coach said to me that he was impressed by the girls, and that they were one of the better teams they've played against.
Hopefully the girls have shown themselves what they are capable of. They've certainly set the bar for the coming games.

The u10 Girls were playing away against Boroughmuir 2017 Purples.
What a great performance from the girls this morning, we got off to a slow start finding ourselves 3 goals to 1 down in the first 15 minutes, it was a hectic first period with Boroughmuir capitalising on the break. Our girls stuck to the task with grit and determination to get a goal back and to give us a lift before the 2nd period.
In the 2nd period we were now playing much better and were now starting to take charge of the game. With Boroughmuir playing with a high press, it meant Lily-Mae and Ella could play longer passes and that they did on countless occasions getting us up the park sending our attacking players into goal scoring positions. This period finished 2-2 all to play for now.
The 3rd period was more of the same from our girls, playing great passing football with some fantastic individual play from Mhairi who caused the opposition a headache over the 3 periods. With all the girls hard work and never give in attitude we managed to score 3 goals to 1 in the final half to make the final Result Boroughmuir 6 Leithen Vale 6

The u10s next game is a friendly against Penicuik on Friday 11th and then a league game at home against Bonnyrigg on Sunday 13th September.

The u8 girls were playing in a tournament in Haddington on Sunday 6th.
We thought they'd do well, and we were right! 💪🏆⚽
Our Under 8 girls visited Haddington for the first U8's games of the season, and never lost a single game 💪⚽
Lots of football, lots of passing, lots of tackling = lots of goals (14!!!)💪😎
