🧡 A heartfelt thank you from Insch Cycling Club 🧡

Thank you so much to every single person who joined us for this year’s Insch by Insch 200 and Half Insch 100 Audaxes. You made it a truly brilliant day and helped us achieve a record number of entries.

This year also marked Audax UK’s 50th anniversary, and we were delighted that 50% of those entering the Half Insch 100 were women. We also welcomed a record six women to the 200 km event, hopefully that number will continue to grow!

I had planned to ride but pulled out at the last minute and decided to take photographs instead. I’m honestly so glad I did, because it gave me the chance to chat with so many lovely people throughout the day. There were lots of waves, plenty of smiles and such a warm atmosphere wherever I met you along the routes.

It’s going to take me a wee while to work through and edit all the photographs, but at least I get to relive the fun all over again while I do it! 📸

To all the familiar faces, thank you for coming back and for your incredibly kind words. To everyone who joined us for the first time, we really hope you felt, and loved, the special spirit of the Insch Audax. It may be a challenging day on the bike, but the warmth, encouragement, camaraderie and mountain of home baking are what make it ours.

None of this happens without an enormous amount of work behind the scenes. A huge thank you to Alan Callow for everything he does to organise and grow these events, and to all our wonderful volunteers who baked, prepared food, worked in the kitchen and at the control, welcomed riders and stayed behind to clear up.

Special thanks to our catering superstar Ingrid Penny, to Marie for managing the kitchen on the day, and to Sam Bedford, Emma Cruickshank’s mum, Niall MacLachlan, Eleanor, James Buckingham and Kevin Ryrie for providing such a fabulous spread. Thank you also to Roger Buckingham for staying behind to help with the clear-up.

Events like this are about far more than kilometres, climbing and brevet cards. They are about people—and you all made this one very special.

Thank you for riding, volunteering, smiling, waving and being part of it. We truly hope to welcome you all back again next year. 🧡🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🍰

🚴 GOOD LUCK TO ALL OUR AUDAX RIDERS! 🚴

Tomorrow is a real highlight in Insch Cycling Club’s year, and we would like to wish every rider taking part the very best of luck. Whether this is your first Audax or you are a seasoned long-distance rider, we hope you have a brilliant adventure and a day to remember.

“Audax” means bold or courageous — which feels very fitting! Please ride safely, take particular care at the points highlighted in your rider information and, most importantly, have fun.

Events like this simply could not happen without the amaz no mo ing people who give their time to support our little club. A huge thank you to Alan Callow for his support for all the work he has put into organising the event, and to every volunteer who has helped behind the scenes.

People have been busy baking today, and tomorrow our HQ volunteers will be giving their time to make sure everyone is welcomed back and supplied with plenty of food and hot drinks. Please don’t rush away afterwards — stay with us for a while, share stories from your ride, debrief on your experience and enjoy the homebakes that people have been slaving over!

This event is growing from strength to strength, and none of it would be possible without Alan, our volunteers and, of course, all of you who come along and ride it.

I’ll be out on the road taking photographs, so if you spot me and can manage it, give me your biggest smile! 📸😁

Stay safe, ride well and have a fantastic day. We cannot wait to welcome you back to HQ! 🧡🖤

Entries Close in 1 Week:
The Insch by Insch 200 km BRM (with a revised route) and the Half Insch (50:50:50) BP audaxes that will take place on Saturday 5 September this year. The (50:50:50) initiative reflects Audax UK's desire to get female rider participation up to 50% of entrants and we are hoping to achieve that goal at least with the Half Insch though ladies would be more than welcome on either ride. 🚴 INTERMEDIATE & COMPETENT RIDE 🚴

Our intermediate and competent riders headed over to Aboyne today for a well-earned coffee stop at Spider on a Bicycle. ☕️🕷️🚲

They covered just over 63 miles with an impressive 4,629 ft of climbing, a brilliant day out and a strong ride from everyone!

There was also an exceptionally rare sighting captured on camera… Stu smiling during an Insch CC ride photo……or was he squinting from the sun! 🚨😂

Proof that good company, plenty of climbing and the promise of coffee can work miracles! 🧡🖤
