Babywearing safety checks.

If you have had a session with me anytime, you will be familiar with top to toe checks.

These are simple checks that we do once baby is secure and allow us to make sure baby is safe and positioned well in any sling or carrier.

❤️ Face is free and clear of fabric - this is to ensure babys airways are not compromised and easy to monitor baby.

🧡 Head close enough to kiss - We want babys head high on the hard part of your chest to support the airways.

💛 Hands up either side of the face - This is to help keep baby central and not slump either side. It also allows them access to their hands

💚 Fabric or panel at the nape of the neck -you need to see the full ear above the panel to be safe.

💙 Fabric smooth supporting the back - We want to support babys natural position without pressure on the spine.

💜 Knee to knee support - The fabric or panel needs to be adjusted to support knee to knee with that M position.

🩷 Feels snug and secure you can take your hands off - If you can take your hands away then baby feels tight and snug to you.

Thanks to for sending me some new carriers to try.
This is the new Mirage carrier.

It's a half buckle style carrier but with shorter straps.
The fabric is half velour and half mesh so if you are funny with fabrics best to try first.

👉I like the loops to thread the straps to make it a bit easier for some.
👉 The base is adjustable to get a nice fit.
👉The straps are very wide so you need to double knot the ties to ensure babys face is clear.
👉The straps are also quite short so you won't get as much support or growth as a standard half buckle.
👉 You can't layer up for bigger babies with the shorter straps.

They don't advertise it but it can be used to back carry but again the straps are short.

I was kindly sent this lovely wee book and its available for you to check out while in the studio.

Written by Jenny, she has taken TICKS, a safety guide for babywearing and transformed them into a gorgeous wee story.

Perfect to read while settling your wee one but also reminding you how to ensure you are carrying safely.

Each page is beautifully illustrated with carrying pictures featuring different parents and slings.

From a simple fitcheck to a full back carry session and everything else you might need.

No need to be local to get my support. I've had sessions from all over the world and I love being able to support you to carry safely.

I take the time to talk through and explain parts of the sling or carriers while showing you up close.

If your wee one is unsettled I'm able to provide distraction as needed. Missed my calling as a children's entertainer I think! If you have had an online session you will have met the puppets!

The only difference between in person and online is that I can't make you a cup of tea!

And everything in the library is also available for post hire!
