Scottish Silver Medallist Katie Ord in Hammer Throw, Huge well done!!
Katie is a 2nd claim harrier and competed under VPCOG at the Championships, she is Highland based.
Angus Davren was 4th in the High Jump
Robin Snedden competed in the 400m heats, Robin competed as a Harrier but is also a 1st claim Glasgow Jags athlete.
We had 3 other Inverness/Highland based 2nd claim harriers competing as well under Aberdeen AAC, well done Annabelle, Isla and Lucas

BACK WHERE SHE STARTED

Among those watching Kirsty Law lift that historic 17th Scottish discus title in Aberdeen were her very first coach Cammy Roger, who introduced her to the event, and his wife Maggie.
Cammy and Maggie were also both Presidents of Inverness Harriers in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

KIRSTY SIGNS OFF A LONG CAREER WITH A 17TH NATIONAL DISCUS TITLE 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A remarkable 17th Scottish senior discus title in Aberdeen on Sunday brought to a close the 27 year Inverness Harriers career of the most prolific winner of honours in the club’s 79 year history.
Life Member Kirsty Law, who turns 40 in October and has now retired from competition this weekend, struck national gold yet again in Aberdeen with a throw of 47.93m and adds this accolade to a string of honours stretching back into the last century.
Kirsty’s first athletics success was, interestingly, as the North League’s under 11 cross country champion in 1997, but as she moved into her mid teens, former Harriers throws coach and club President Cammy Roger persuaded her to try the discus and she never looked back.
Her first discus breakthrough came in 2002 when she won the British Schools International and from there it was onwards and upwards via a series of England Athletics under 20 and under 23 titles during the 2000s, alongside early entry into the Scottish senior ranks.
That entry was so early that, alongside her 17 Scottish titles she also had time to amass no fewer than a record 18 appearances at the Loughborough international where she was a multiple winner.
Kirsty further represented Scotland in the Glasgow 2014 and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games although, despite having been one of the first athletes to gain qualification for Glasgow 2026, she missed selection after what has become a longstanding injury prevented her from showing current form.
One of her regrets was when she was forced to move her first claim to Sale Harriers in order to obtain necessary high level competition in the U.K. Women’s League. But she has always worn an Inverness vest whenever possible - even getting into trouble with the throws referee on one occasion when Sale colours were needed!
The next stage, into the Great Britain senior ranks, brought her British titles and selections for events such as the European Championships and European Team championships.
During her long career Kirsty, who is from Munlochy on the Black Isle but has been based in Loughborough for many years, has competed across Europe and at the 2004 Commonwealth Youth Games in Australia. A frequent visitor to the United States, she achieved many of her best throws in Oklahoma. These include her club record of 60.13m in 2021, which places her second in the Scottish all time rankings, splitting two Commonwealth champions - national record holder Meg Ritchie-Stone and Rosemary Payne.

Kirsty Law has brought a great deal of distinction to herself and to Inverness Harriers over a career that has lasted more than quarter of a century and now goes into retirement with the thanks of this club and our very best wishes. 🙌

Harriers at National Champs in Grangemouth

Over the weekend we had 5 U14s, 5 U16s and 2 U20s plus 1 U18 competing up an age group, travel to Grangemouth for the National Age Group Championships.

It was a lovely weekend weather wise and our athletes turned in some fantastic performances, medals, PBs and important learning experiences!!



6 medals in field events and 1 on the track-

Double Gold Medals for Liam Martin in U14 Shot Put, with a PB of 12.43m and Discuss with a PB of 33.65m

Gold medal for Duncan MacGregor in U16 High Jump and a Silver Medal in Triple Jump with a PB of 12.28m

Silver Medal for Gabriel Langston in U20 javelin with a PB of 38.27m, he was also 5th in High Jump with a PB of 1.78m and 6th in Long Jump

Silver Medal for Lucy Antliff in U14 Shot Put with a 9.69m

Bronze Medal for Noah Ross in U16 100m with a PB of 11.47s and 5th place in the 200m

U20s

Andrew Baird was 4th in the 1500m

Daisy Hendry completed in Long Jump with an outdoor PB of 4.94m

U16s

Faith C was 4th in Long Jump 6th in 200m final

Ava M competed in 300m heats and was 7th in 200m final

Freya L was 4th in the 80mH

U14s

Litia V was 6th in the 100m final and made it into 200m semi’s

Ellie H ran in the 200m heats with a PB of 32.64s and the 800m heats with a PB of 2:56.39

Finlay M was 4th in Discuss with a PB of 21.82m, 6th in shot put with a PB of 8.97m and 16th in Javelin

Mary B was 5th in Shot Put with a PB of 8.99m, 6th in Discuss with a PB of 19.67m and 6th in Javelin

Iyla S was 5th in 1500m with a PB of 4:59.67

Absolutely fantastic performances, thank you to the coaches for preparing the athletes and to their families for supporting them and travelling with them to this competition

DRUM GAMES ACTION 🥁 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ⛰️ 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️

Well done to everyone who competed at the Glen Urquhart highland games today. Some excellent performances which included a win for Lesley Hansen in the Glen Challenge 10 mile trail race with Robin Regan finishing 2nd.

Later in the afternoon there was a double
Harriers win when Robin went a place higher at the Achmony Hill race with young Niamh Doorley sharing the top spot with him! 🥇

Also a big shout out to Catriona Fraser who took on the Aberfeldy 70.3 triathlon last weekend. She was rewarded with an age group win and 5th position overall.

Huge well done to our U14 and U16 athletes who travelled to Grangemouth on Sunday for the YDL final.

They came an amazing 3rd place overall, with lots of PBs and fantastic performances!!

The achievement is even more impressive considering they have been without proper training facilities for the last 2+ months
