We are a small group of parents from Balnain Primary School Parent Council and we’re fundraising to replace Balnain Playpark and ensure our children and future generations have a lovely park to play in and enjoy for many years to come.

We are working together with The Highland Council and need to raise £100,000 in total!
We have been working hard behind the scenes for over a year now and things are progressing well.

Highland Council has allocated £30,000 of Scottish Government money to the project/park.

Morrisons and Scottish Water have agreed to meet the cost of an enhanced drainage scheme as a goodwill gesture to the community. They have recently completed the majority of this work and have also repaired and painted the fence, installed a play tunnel and donated a new picnic table!

We have also recently secured a grant of £50,000 from Soirbheas which we are incredibly grateful for. That leaves us with another £20,000 to raise.

Our first fundraising event will be a sponsored swim on the 19th of September when some of us will swim the length of Loch Meiklie. If you’d like to get involve just give us a shout!

We would love to raise enough to replace our park as the alternative is that the council will remove all of the existing equipment and replace it with only one or two things.
We have a vision to make this a space for the whole community to gather and enjoy.

Update: Scottish Water and Morrisons have now completed the drainage work and the park is reopen. One small area, where a play tunnel has been installed, is still fenced off to allow earth to dry out and grass to grow. We’ll let you know when Morrisons will return to install the other play tunnel.

🚧🚧 Park closed all week 🚧🚧
Just a wee reminder that our park will be closed all week while Morisons and Scottish Water carry out the drainage upgrade and fence painting. They are very kindly doing this work for our community as a goodwill gesture.
