After a 5-1 win at North Kessock last night we finish the NBL as runners up for the second consecutive season.

Well done and thank you to everyone who contributed on and off the green.

Congratulations to Stewart Bain & Kenny Walker winning the Sutherland Pairs Competition. Well done to Barry Wilson & Alasdair ‘The Machine’ MacCalman who were today’s R’s-up. Thanks to all the players for an excellent day of bowls and to Barry for organising the competition😎👍

Some mixed results in the Northern Counties tonight for our teams.

Our rinks got a walkover earlier in the day when Thurso scratched.

The over 55s Rinks and our singles lost but it was wins for our pairs and trips in last end drama at Fortrose.

So 3 through and 2 out with lots of positives.

Also thanks to everyone who helped at the Green today, umpiring and catering as we hosted 3 ties. 🙏

Unfortunately not the final home game of the season we were hoping for with tonight’s match cut short due to the horrendous weather and water lying on the green. With Alness leading in all 3 games and 8 ends played it was decided enough was enough and 18 drenched souls returned to the clubhouse for towels and hot drinks.

This result means Alness are champions for the 2nd year running and we congratulate them for a great achievement. Very well deserved 🏆.

For our team it’s away to North Kessock next Monday evening so let’s try and finish the season on a high. 👍🏻

Finally a big thank you to Anne, Claire and Neil for getting us dry and warmed up with the hot drinks tonight and for all the work during the course of the league season. Hugely appreciated. 🙏

The top ten team travelled up to Wick to play Rosebank in the quarter final with a place at Tain up for grabs.

After wins for the singles and the pairs, unbelievably it came down to a very unlucky bowl in the rinks to give 1 away and a measure in the triples.
Both went against us and left us 1 point short as a draw would have seen us through with the singles win.

The boys gave it their all and should be proud of the battle they put up.

Great effort from everyone now onto tomorrow nights massive league game against Alness.

Another good win tonight for the team. 4 points is always an excellent return from Fortrose.

We wish Fortrose & Rosemarkie all the best for the rest of the season.

We now go into next weeks penultimate league game with Alness just 5 points behind the league leaders and defending champions.
