This is Raven first time being ridden off on his own off the long lines. He has been quite tricky and a little nervous. Nothing bad has happened to him he has been up on his farm at home and not really seen much of the world since he has come down here to be backed. Everything has been a bit terrifying for him and getting used to me has been difficult for him too. I’ve really had to think outside the box with him with a lot of what I’ve done. To getting his bridle on bitting, saddle and then me getting on his back. My normal system is to do some ground work, long line out hacking then I pop my Ardall Dummy on. After all of this I’ll get on once I feel they understand and are happy with what’s being asked of them. But with this boy I never put my Dummy on, I just got on his back. I don’t think he would have taken to the dummy it would have terrified him. I found he really started to trust me so I decided to just go with my gut feeling and get on. You can see in this video that he is still nervous and is unsure of the car passing up the road behind him but on the whole is doing well and is waiting for me to reassure him a lot. I will carry on with what I’m doing each day to gain his confidence. What is lovely is every day I go to catch him he canters down to greet me. I think it’s really important they trust and like you then the only way is forward 🤩

Another long over due post of what’s been going on at home.
Beautiful Bonnie headed off to her new home, I found her the most perfect family.
Sunny the Connie headed back home to Orkney he was such a big character it’s not felt the same since he left. 💙 he was a real family favourite with all of us.
Holly and Hamish have been giving Oreo regular make overs and doing pony gymnastics on her. Hamish likes smothering her in Vaseline 🤪 apparently she likes it!
We have had 2 new arrivals in for backing, Lanza the 4 year old cob and Raven the 4 year old Dales. Both settled well and are ready to start their education.
Then last but not least beautiful Aramis. He had his last show yesterday at Blair although very fresh to start with when I first got on 🤪 he was placed 5th in a huge class. I couldn’t have asked any more of him. He did a super show and stood in the line up for nearly 2 hours. He’s now off to have some down time until he comes out next year. It was very important to us not to over show him he’s still young and we want to keep him at his best. We are very excited for next year. He’s a beautiful horse inside and out. 😇💙
I’ve had a super season with all my horses and ponies I’ve been lucky enough to have here for training. It’s worked really well and I’m feeling very lucky and fortunate to be able to do this from my home. 🥰

Bonny the fell she’s 10years old, is taking to working and being backed a bit later in life no fault of her own. She’s very well bred and it’s beautiful she will be for sale once she is ridden away. She’s off to a show this weekend to do a in hand class so I’ll get lots of pics of her then.
Then we have the gorgeous Connie gelding Sunny he’s 4 and also in for backing. Oh my what a darling. He has the biggest personality and if he could come in to the house and have a cup of tea with me he’d be right in there. He’s been in for just under 2 weeks taken to long reining well (although loves a snort) then today after being out on the lines my gut told me to just get on and go and off we went. What a star 🌟
