Grampian Short Mat Top 5

Our final games from Friday night for the Laird Parker League Cup, congratulations to the winners Garlogie.

The final was played in good spirit and Garlogie started strongly winning, both games in the first half, a spirited comeback from Monymusk was thwarted by a superbly played last end by pairs team Claire and Murray Masson, taking a 3 in the final end to win 16-13 whilst the Monymusk triples team finished strongly to win their game. Final score 6-2 to Garlogie.

A strong performance from Harlaw saw them secure 3rd Place in our league, putting Alford into 4th place.

A 6-2 win for Insch over Garioch saw them pick up 5th in the league.

A strong performance from Aboyne saw them pick up 7th in the league, winning their final game against Kemnay.

Thank you to all the players, many trying short mat for the first time, for making this league work. Hopefully we can grow in strength from this starting point.

Many thanks to Gordon Spence for his kind donation and help in making this top 5 league possible.

Thanks to Lesley from the Drouthy Laird for her donation and gift vouchers and thank you to Harlaw player Steve Angus from Kintore Trophy Shop for the fantastic cup donation. Anyone wanting to see the cup can drop in past the shop where it shall be on display.

Last but not least, thanks to Paul for taking across 2 carpets from Garlogie to allow the finals night to take place, it was great to see 8 mats played on at the same time and to see some viewers watching on and enjoying some great bowling.

Anyone keen to enter a team for next season, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Sandy McDonald or Grant Reid to find out more.
