Alford Academy's New Young Ambassadors for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Sophie and Elyssa attended the YA conference in Inverurie on the 8th of September, working alongside thier fellow YA's to learn more about their role next year.

The pair have already begun to discuss ideas in school on how the can make a difference in Alford Academy. Well done girls and good luck with your role. 👏

🌟 FREE October Holiday Multi-Sport Session at Inverurie Community Campus! 🌟

Looking for a fun and active way to keep your child busy during the October holidays? 🏃‍♀️⚽🏀

As part of our annual I Can Lead Leadership Course, Active Schools is delighted to offer a FREE 2-hour Multi-Sport Session at Inverurie Community Campus for children in P1-P7 on Wednesday 14th October.

Our enthusiastic S2-S4 young leaders from across Aberdeenshire will be putting their leadership training into practice by delivering a range of exciting sports and games, all under the supervision of the Active Schools team. 🙌

Join Active Schools for our FREE Netball Fun5z Workshop at Ellon Academy on Tuesday 22nd September, 6pm-8pm.

Whether you're a teacher, school staff member, senior pupil, parent, current volunteer, or someone interested in getting involved with netball, this practical workshop is for you!

✅ Coaching session ideas
✅ Understanding the rules of the game
✅ Umpiring guidance and practice
✅ Build confidence to lead sessions and officiate matches

While this workshop does not provide a formal qualification, it will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to support and develop netball opportunities within your school or community.

🌟 Young Ambassadors Conference 2026🌟

Last week, Active Schools Aberdeenshire proudly hosted our Young Ambassadors Conference at Inverurie Town Hall, bringing together Young Ambassadors from across Aberdeenshire alongside Active Schools Coordinators and school staff.
The day was packed with opportunities to connect, collaborate, plan, and inspire one another as we look ahead to another exciting year of increasing participation and promoting the power of sport and physical activity in our schools and communities. 💪🏃‍♀️🏅

👏 A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success. Special recognition goes to our Leadership Subgroup members Rebecca Ripley, Kerry Butler, and Calum Smith, whose hard work and dedication saw them plan and deliver the entire conference.

🏉 Thanks also to Kim and Garioch Rugby Club for leading an engaging workshop, and to our fantastic PE teachers Miss Cu***ng, Miss Rae, Miss Clements, and Mr Mathews from Banff, Portlethen, Inverurie, and Westhill for their valued support throughout the day.

⭐ Most importantly, a massive shout-out to all of our Young Ambassadors. Your enthusiasm, positivity, ideas, and energy were truly inspiring and made the day what it was.

👀 Keep an eye on our page over the coming weeks as we introduce our local Young Ambassadors and showcase the incredible work they're planning for the year ahead.

🏀 Girls Supporting Girls Through Sport 🏀

This term, our fantastic Alford Academy Leadership pupils have been delivering a Girls-Only Basketball Club, with an amazing 15 girls attending regularly each week.

The club was developed by the young leaders with the aim of encouraging more girls to get involved in sport and physical activity. Led by girls, for girls.

A huge well done to our leadership pupils for their enthusiasm, commitment and excellent role modelling throughout the programme. It has been fantastic to see so many girls engaging in basketball, making new friendships and growing in confidence each week. Keep up the good work.

🎾 CLUSTER TENNIS SESSIONS ARE BACK TO HUNTLY! 🎾

Active Schools Huntly are delighted to be offering more tennis opportunities at Cooper Park, Huntly, starting next Thursday! 🥳

These sessions will be delivered by a qualified tennis coach and are open to children from P1 to S2, making them a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, improve confidence, and have fun on the court.
