🎉 Huge congratulations to HOLLIE SIWEK! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Hollie, who has been awarded both the Aberdeenshire ClubSport Young Volunteer of the Year and Ellon Academy Volunteer of the Year 👏

Hollie has been a true superstar with Active Schools, contributing an amazing 286+ hours of volunteering so far — and every single hour has been filled with enthusiasm, positivity and genuine care for others 💛

A valued and trusted part of our Active Schools team, Hollie has made a lasting impact on the experiences of so many young people across our programmes.

And it doesn’t stop there… Hollie’s commitment to volunteering goes above and beyond:
✨ Supporting residents at a local care home during school holidays
✨ Helping in the academy library
✨ Assisting with nursery after-school activities
✨ Playing a key role as one of our fantastic Active Schools Young Leaders
✨ Volunteering with Police Scotland Youth Volunteers
✨ Marshalling at running events

Hollie truly embodies what it means to give back to the community, and we couldn’t be prouder.

👏 Well done, Hollie — you are absolutely incredible! 💫

Inverurie based TEN Cycling Club have recently awarded the Ion-Keith Falconer Memorial Award for Youth Achievement for the third time and the 2026 recipient has been named as 15 year old Peter McRobbie from Kintore, which coincides perfectly with Volunteers Week 2026.

In 1878, Mr Keith-Falconer, whose family seat was at Keithhall House and Estate near Inverurie, secured the unofficial title of world cycling champion after winning a two-mile race at Stamford Bridge, which was organised by the National Union of Cyclists. Mr Keith-Falconer went to Cambridge University and in his later life was a missionary and Arabic scholar, but he sadly died aged just 32 in the city of Aden in Yemen from Malaria.

In 2023, Cycle Aberdeenshire, having been made aware of the story and linking directly to the presence of the cycling world championships in Scotland, secured funding from the Garioch Area Committee to commission the Ion Keith Falconer Memorial Award. The award was then passed to TEN Cycling Club in Inverurie who began an annual award process to provide recognition to of one of the club’s youth cyclists, based on their overall contribution to the club and not just cycling performances.

TEN Cycling Club Secretary Pete Lowson said “Peter has been with the club for several years and has always demonstrated great values. He always gives every activity his full effort and has progressed well in all disciplines. He is polite and supportive to other riders and this year has used cycling as part of his Duke of Edinburgh. He is a pleasure to have in the club and a worthy winner.”

The photo is courtesy of TEN Cycling Club and shows Peter with the Ion-Keith Falconer Memorial Award for Youth Achievement, alongside some of the youth members and coaches at a recent coaching session. Details about the club and to find out about joining their youth sessions can be found at

✅ Every contribution makes a difference
Whether it’s:
⚽ A fun 45-minute after-school club, playing fun playground games
🏀 A sport-specific session, for those that have a particular interest
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Helping as part of a rota with other parents/guardians or community members

We’ll support you every step of the way – Active Schools will organise all the paperwork and help set everything up, so you can focus on delivering fun, active sessions.

There’s no long-term commitment required—just a short block of sessions can have a big impact!
📍 Opportunities are available within individual schools and across cluster networks.
✨ It’s a fantastic opportunity for you and for local children and young people.
