๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ… Celebrating the Commonwealth Games with Active Schools Central! ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

With the Commonwealth Games being hosted in Glasgow this year, Active Schools Central brought the excitement closer to home by running a series of Athletics Festivals across our local areas.

Each team was assigned a Commonwealth country to represent and got creative by designing and making their own flags. The festivals kicked off with a fantastic opening parade around the event location, complete with national anthems and interesting facts about each country โ€“ creating a true Commonwealth atmosphere! ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŽ‰

Teams then took part in 10 different athletics stations, with points awarded at each activity. At the end of every festival, scores were totalled and teams competed for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿฅˆ๐Ÿฅ‰

1st and 2nd winning teams from the local festivals in Huntly, Westhill, Kemnay, Alford and Inverurie earned their place at the final hosted at Kellands Park, Inverurie. The final brought together 10 teams from 6 different schools, showcasing the incredible talent, enthusiasm and teamwork of our young athletes.

A huge congratulations to our overall winners from Westhill, who received their gold medals and certificates from local Commonwealth athlete Jason Banks. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ…

Across the five network festivals, an amazing 82 teams took part, making this a fantastic celebration of sport, participation and the Commonwealth spirit.

Well done to everyone involved โ€“ athletes, staff, volunteers and supporters โ€“ for making these events such a memorable success! ๐ŸŒŸ

And as the Commonwealth Games begin today, we would like to wish all the athletes competing the very best of luck. ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒ
