Congratulations Steven. Well deserved young man.
Well done, Steven! Here's a photo and some words on why Steven Strachan was awarded Colony Parks' Community Player of the Year on behalf of We Are Inverurie-BID ⬇
Steven’s coaching/volunteering has made such a positive contribution locally: Colony 2012s - Steven was first to put his hand up to help with the 2012s when they started out and continues to play an active role to this day.
Simon Reid, 2012’s manager, said – “In summary he’s been with us for a couple of years and we all consider him very much one of the team in the 2012s. The kids think he’s great as he’s an actual player not just some dad who lays cones!!! He’s at every 0900 training session we have on a Saturday and has now started supporting us at our 7s matches on Sundays too. At some stages a wee while back we struggled for coaches and had Steven not been there to help we’d probably have had to cancel so he more than just makes up numbers. To boot and as you’ll know he’s a really decent, confident and mature young chap. Wish I’d had the get up and go he does when I was his age!!!”
Re. Active Schools – Steven has made a huge contribution to the Community from his volunteering with the Active Schools set up. Malcolm Grant, Active Schools Lead Coordinator, said – “Active Schools Inverurie have known Steven since he was a Primary School participant, within the Active Schools extra-curricular programme, with Basketball, Hockey and Football being his chosen sports. As he progressed through to Secondary School he started to help out more and joined the “Leaders In Sport” programme run by Active Schools and the PE Department, and he then started to assist with after school Hockey and Basketball, with the latter being his forte. Steven was mentored in Basketball by the late Kenny Gibb and as we reach the end of this school year, Steven is well on his way to exceeding 300 hours of volunteering towards the Saltire Awards and with 6th year still to come he may yet reach the pinnacle of 500 hours.”

Hi Parents & Players
As you may be aware, Run Garioch will be a little different this year, it will be virtual and will be taking place between midnight on Friday 7 May until 11.59pm on Sunday 16 May. During that time, we would encourage as many players (and coaches) to participate in this event as possible as this is normally the clubs major fundraiser every year.
During that period you should run your race distance for your age – not necessarily your race route - at a time and location of your choosing, perhaps at a training session when teams are all together may be an idea.
When your run is completed, times can be submitted through the website of the race timing partners, FRS. Further details on this will be available in May and will be circulated to our coaches for entry.
This year there is a ‘Go Green for Garioch’ theme - so please wear something green when you are participating, if possible and if coaches could get a few pictures and send in to this address, we will enter them on the race’s social media pages as prizes can be won. The best photos on the theme of green whether it is something worn, carried, eaten, pointed out or anything else you can think of will earn the prizes.
At the end of the 10 day race window , Run Garioch medals will be available and will be distributed to all participants via the coaches.
The club have already made a bulk entry directly with Run Garioch early last year, as we are offered a discounted payment rate in entering this way.
The team managers will get in touch via your usual team network to confirm your child’s attendance.
Also this year we’d like to take the stress out of sponsorship forms and cash handling and we invite all parents to click on the following link to access the online sponsorship payment via Virgin Money Giving donation website:-

As a charity, there is the facility to include Gift Aid, which I would encourage you to do if you are a UK tax payer, as the club can then reclaim a further 25% on top of your donation.
We would like to encourage as many of the participants families to contribute to our sponsorship efforts as possible, any little amount you can spare in these times can make a larger grand total when all pulled together, which in turn will all help our boys and girls continue to play the football they love with the equipment, kits and venues they require.
I trust this is self-explanatory however please get in touch should you have an
