Colony Park Girls Under 10’s

During July the girls haven’t been able to train on Davidson Field to allow the pitches to have a rest and prepare for the new season. As a result, training hasn’t been a frequent as normal. However Colony Park did find some venues that we could use for training, which is great.
So the girls trained yesterday morning in what can only be described as strange weather - warm but cold and sometimes wet. But with the smell of smoke due to the fires in the cairngorms we were happy for it to we raining for once.
We did some drills and played some practice matches and the girls worked very hard and had some fun. Good to keep the girls ticking over until we get back to our normal schedule in August.

Some of our U12's who were ball girls on Saturday as Inverurie Locos took on an Aberdeen XI in Greg Mitchell’s testimonial match at Harlaw Park ⚽️❤️🖤⚽️

Sunday saw our last game before the summer break away at Aberdeen City Ladies. This was another very physical encounter with a big team and girls coped with this very well in a very competitive match.
The girls played some lovely football with the mix between passing and dribbling becoming much better with some great decision making. What was really pleasing to see was the number of through balls being played - the girls were tending to hold on to the ball a bit too long to try and beat one more player. So it was great to see the number of chances coming from that through ball.
We will have a few training sessions during the summer as Davidson Park gets a rest and everyone enjoys their holidays.
Thanks as always to the dedication of all the parents, driving all around Aberdeenshire on Sunday morning to let their girls play football. At least the girls keep every match entertaining!

Ruby with the player of the week trophy today after another fine game.

Player of the week -Ruby
Ruby joined us this year, having never played organised football and has gone from strength to strength. On Sunday she played in defence and formed part of our defensive wall. She was outstanding, tracking players, making tackles and starting attacks with firm, accurate passes to the midfield. She keeps getting better and better. Well done Ruby.

Yesterday was Father’s Day and the Colony Galaxies want to recognise the contribution that the girls fathers make towards the team. It was great to see you all supporting the girls. Thank you.

Sunday saw Colony Galaxies host Grampian stars in a really good game of football. First 15 was fairly even, though as we moved into the second 15 the stars took control. Galaxies came right back into it in the last 15 leading to an exciting finish.

Great game to watch, played in the correct spirit of competition and fun. Well done to all the girls involved.

Colony Galaxies player of the week -Aoife
The galaxies played really well on Sunday, a real team effort with everyone contributing. So it was a difficult choice.
But we have been encouraging Aoife to really concentrate on the accuracy of her passing rather just kicking it hard and she did that in abundance, finding team mates with great passes to feet.
She also managed to grab a few goals, which is nice, but it was her passing that really caught the eye.
Well done, Aoife!
