There’s nothing like a week’s holiday to switch off from work, the endless jobs list, household chores, and even the dogs! 🌿

There’s also nothing like coming home feeling refreshed, motivated and excited to get back to training my own dogs, and yours! Sometimes a break in training is good for everyone 🤗

Today’s gundog training session was a great one. Josie (black Lab) worked her socks off.
Her owner, Lois has clearly been training hard while I’ve been on holiday. Taking a good line on this ground is tough for the dogs, and the video 👇 doesn't show Josie's best line today, but we are working on that! And, we are far too busy enjoying training to take videos of every retrieve!

Huge progress in:
🔸 Stop whistle
🔸 Taking direction off the whistle
🔸 Steadiness

We also had my young 'Grouse' along for his first session in new company. We kept things simple for him with shorter memories, an intro to the stop whistle, and some more challenging ground for taking a line.

Both dogs finished with a well‑earned drink — perfect timing for this heat! 💦🐶
