Brands hatch gp race report

Rolling with the big boys now on the 600 grid I made the decision probably around cadwell I wanted to move to pss600 its just unfortunate there been no space I had to wait until now to move classes I can tell you now I wish I had done it at the start of the year ! From qualifying to the last race it was some the most enjoyable racing I've done

Brands gp is track I've only been to once way back on a twin so there was plenty of learning to do
Fridays test day got 12 laps all and one little off at surtees only doing 1.42s 😬

Qualifying 31th 14th in class 1.40.2

Race 1 25th 11th in class 1.38.9
Let's start with the fact I beat Casey O'GORMAN (he fell off) still counts tho right?
Avg start i knew I needed to learn from the faster riders around me lines braking ect opening laps was brilliant Absolute carnage but race was full of yellow flags and was Eventually red flagged around lap 7

Race 2 Sunday 21st 12th in class 1.37.6

Another mental race for Example paddock Hill was 6 a breast at the start I knew I needed to get good start and stick my teeth into ppl that was doing 37s in the last race and get them to drag me along it worked well until about lap 10 were again another red flagΒ

Race 3 wet well wetish to really wet
20th 9th in class 1.50.9

The track was wet in some place but damp in others i had made the decision to go out on wets with a scrub wet rear and dry setting in the hope was going stay only little bit wet at worst haha big mistake got about half way into the race (10laps) I lost the front into surtees but saved it thought OK back off a little bit can't be binning it again came round to clearway the back stepped out no drama just be easy on throttle as getting wetter now but with zero confidence in front the lap times dropped off big time but overall i was glad to finish the race and weekend pretty happy knowing I made big improvements from Friday I just wish it's was dry for that last race I really wanted to get into the 35s

A massive thank you to you all that helped me over the weekend with track walks pitboard advice on and off the track I really do appreciate it all 😍😘 05/08/2023

Well what a weekend!
I was really nervous about this weekend and let's face it the last time I was here I didn't even finish race 1

Test day was pretty wet and windy spent the day trying to set the bike up

Saturday qualifying its dry πŸ™Œ I Felt very confident straight away times where not great but I wasn't bothered just told myself I just needed to get though this and we can work on pace/lines in the endurance was 4.5hrs after all
Sprints 1.15.2 p3 inclass 8th overall

Endurance i was out 1st and did 1.14.7 had us in p3 for national 6 but we soon dropped down to p5 as other picked the pace up Jason turn next he put in some solid laps but no improvement on my time so it was lukes time to shine and straight out the pit lane he was on it soon dropped into the 12s back into p3 🀟 and 10th overall! πŸ’₯

Sprints race facking wet like otters pocket wet I had zero confidence in the rear and was happy to just finish the race 17th overall 4th in class with rather slow time of 1.26.4 lol

Endurance cancelled due to high winds and rain we was gutted but tbh it was shite 4.5hrs in cold and wet wouldn't of been fun
SUNDAY ITS FRICKING DRY

race 1 for my great performance on sat I was p21 on the grid you could barely see the lights lol I knew I need a good start and to get to out side of t1 to set my self up for the inside on t2 It worked a treat got to turn 2 I was on inside of like 8 riders one sat up It backed them up giving the me the perfect chance to rail the turn make up some serious place by turn 3 i was on Craig's ass got passed Craig on the straight now for josh for next 5 laps I could see I was gaining on him and some rookie 1000s with a few laps to go josh had a huge slide coming out of t1 that was all the Invitation I needed closed the gap down make my move into rocket and took p1 making it my 1st ever race win ! πŸ†
1.13.0 1st in class 5th overall

Last race of the day
With the the emotions of just winning my 1st race I felt pretty good for the last race But now with me josh and luke all lined up on row 2 of the grid next to each this was race going to be spicey but I made another great start and by rocket I was in 1st
P1πŸ† 1.12.5 p3 overall 17/07/2023

Race report
So after like 9 month off the bike since anglesey crash its was time to go racing again

Thursday trackday
Very rusty and my new leather was giving me really bad arm pump I could only do 4 laps at a time before I had to pull in late morning and changed to an old set of leathers the rest of the day went OK slowing building up

Testday
wet all morning but I decided to go out and try some wet settings as I've not riding this bike in the wet was fairly happy so waited until the last 2 session track was dry chucked some old scrubs in and went out still riding tight and not using all the track but dropping into the 41s

Qualifying

Dry went OK 1.41.3 9th overall 4th in class

Race 1 dry 13th overall 4th in class 1.39.5
Now we are on with rookie 1000s had Constant battle with Couple of 1000s I was still riding very tight and no where near as aggressive as I normally do was getting held up on the brakes and mid corner then eaten down the straights good race tho

Race 2 WET like a jet ski would been better
2.03.7

1st wet race in ages it's was ridiculous but Hilarious at the same time made a good start work my way through the pack and by lap 4-5 was in lead the fricking lead and then coming out hairpin the bike spun up and spat me over front Minimum damage to me and bike πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Race 3 mostly dry track but I went out on wets 1.47.0 7th overall 2nd in class
Really good start pushed early but after a few laps the wet tyres was cooked was moving around loads wasn't sure how much grip I had braking the bike would run wide the rear moved on the way out I learn a lot about the tyres in that race next time I know I can push more I didn't want to bin it in 2nd so played it safe an brought it home in 2nd place

In all great weekend considering thank you nlr and all the Marshall's for keeping the weekend going
