A question that is asked A LOT
-
From the start of my journey I did away towards the cardio side of training as I believe it was the way to lose body weight. Then I swayed towards the weight training side
-
And neither are wrong when it comes to training for fat loss. The main question is, what do you prefer?
-
When looking to improve our health and well-being we need to be doing something that we both enjoy and can be consistent with
-
There is no magic plan/pill/diet that will get you to your goal within 30 days and keep it that way
-
You can do 6 days of weight training per week, or you can do 5 classes in a week, but if your diet and other lifestyle factors such as sleep, stress levels etc aren’t in check…. Then that could be holding you back from reaching your goals
-
What you need for results are:
* Calorie deficit
* Train in a way that gives you enjoyment
* Create better habits
* Be more active throughout the day
* Eat good nutritious foods
* Be consistent and patient

Something I have spoken about before, why do we exercise?
What is your why?
This is something that requires a lot of deep thinking that could either take a few minutes or a few days.
https://www.reecedorlingtraining.com/post/why-do-we-exercise
Latest blog post, I talk about why digging deeper can be more powerful than just a basic reason.
Why do we exercise? According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) exercise is described as: 'Physical activity refers to all movement. Popular ways to be active include walking, cycling, wheeling, sports, active recreation and play, and can be done at any level of skill and for enjoyment by everybody.' It's well kno...

Starting out can be an intimidating thing, but here are my 5 tips for when you are looking to begin
1. Remember that you are STARTING out. What you may see either online or in the gym could put you off, but take note some of these people have been training for years and most definitely were in your position. Stay consistent and in 6-12 months you’ll no longer be a beginner
2. If you’re following a quick fix or detox. It’s all crap so don’t follow them.
3. Look into what you’re interested in. Are you wanting to do classes? Weight lifting or cardio? Try out different parts of training and see what you enjoy as you’re more likely to stick to something if you enjoy it
4. Go easy on yourself. Start by learning how the equipment works, perhaps hire a coach?
5. Bring a friend along! This can help if you’re having some anxiety about being in the gym. You may even get competitive with each other 👀
Always remember why you’re on this journey in the first place.

Commonly you have a sudden rush of motivation to change so you decide to take up a fitness programme
Problem is you don't know where to start, what to do, what exercises to do, how long for.....
You can easily just google a simple 12 week plan that 'PROMISES' you a new shape and a six pack at the end, but these plans have no idea who you are, what your current lifestyle is or anything
So when you start to embark on a health & fitness journey, where do you begin?
Here are my top tips when starting to plan out how you're going to start making changes:
How to write your own fitness plan There's something about wanting to change your lifestyle for the better. It's something that everyone can do to improve their quality of life in everyday life both physically & mentally. Physical activity can help reduce your risk of developing chronic diseases, improve mental wellbeing, improve co-...
