It was an absolute pleasure completing our fifth installation project for the luxury health group, Third Space, creating and installing bespoke functional fitness and storage solutions at their new Islington facility.

Our functional rig sits at the heart of the site, offering members a world of training opportunities for their workouts. We even incorporated bespoke storage solutions for smaller pieces of equipment, such as kettlebells and dumbbells, so members can always find the equipment they need for a top session.

Functional Training rigs have been on the American College of Sports Medicine’s (ACMS) list of growing trends for a while now, steadily gaining in popularity over the years.

The increase is, in part, due to the renewed interest in getting back to basics. There’s every possible style of training available to your clients if they want it, but now, people want to harness the power of their own body weight.

The rise of things like calisthenics and CrossFit are of course helping to fuel this trend, encouraging more people to skip the cardio machines and incorporate functional training into their fitness regime.

We created an innovative fitness space for a high-profile TV personality in Richmond, South West London.

Key features of the space included a 3.8m bouldering wall and bespoke functional rig. The Rig, which incorporated the original ceiling beams, was designed to match the clients training interests, whilst also being appropriate for younger users, and includes high ropes, rings and a salmon ladder.

Once the building work was complete, it took us just one week to kit out the space, making the client’s vision for a family-fitness facility in his own home a reality. The family use the space daily and are delighted with the results.

Proving no job is too difficult, we kitted out the premium functional training studio Sweat IT. Working in partnership with Ben Paul, founder of Sweat IT, our team fitted the facility with brand new flooring throughout as well as creating one of our most bespoke and innovative functional training rigs yet.

The studio has been fitted out with a 75mm flooring solution to reduce noise and vibration from our Power tile flooring range. Able to withstand the toughest environments the EXF power performance range, has been specifically designed for areas that require exceptional flooring protection.

We recently worked in partnership with Third Space to supply the luxury fitness group with London’s largest functional training rig at its Canary Wharf club.

Inspired by a love of strength and conditioning, functional training and combat arts, The Yard, features innovative storage, flooring and bespoke functional training rig solutions. We’re pretty proud of this one!
