Small friendly bowls club in Westbury Road, Ipswich Having just celebrated its 90th anniversary, St Johns URC Bowls Club was founded in 1934.
It is co-located with St Johns URC Tennis Club in Westbury Road, Ipswich. The club plays in the Ipswich leagues on Monday and Thursday evenings and friendly games with local clubs on Tuesday afternoons. It's a small friendly club with regular club tournaments and games throughout the season. Also an annual prize-giving dinner arranged in November. New members welcomed, young or old, any standard - beginners through to experienced.
Played Hadleigh Carders at home on Thursday, lovely evening for a game of bowls ☀️
We scored 41 shots to Hadleigh’s 68 and all 6 points went to them! 😊
We spent a lovely Monday evening at home playing Ribbans Park ☀️
We achieved 58 shots to their 55 and scored 5 points! 🎉

We played Norbridge Bowls Club at home on Monday ☀️
They scored 78 shots against our 40 and earned all 6 points 😊

Score was 46 to 65,
so 2 points for us, 4 for Capel 😊

Let’s just say it was a challenge getting to grips with their artificial green and they took all 6 points! 😳😂

Today we celebrated the day the USA declared their independence from the UK 🇬🇧 with a short green club competition and a BBQ! Congratulations to Ian and Sheila who won the competition 🏆 Thank you to all who supported the club today 😊
