8 Years of MBPT! ๐
Today marks 8 years since I took the leap into self-employment and started MBPT.
Eight years ago, I was working as a leisure club manager, regularly putting in 60+ hour weeks with very little support, no real opportunities for development, and no clear path for progression within the business.
Youโd probably think that made the decision to go self-employed an easy one. In reality, it wasnโt.
It took me over a year to build up the confidence to make the leap. Leaving the security of a full-time job was one of the biggest and most nerve-wracking decisions Iโve ever made.
Looking back now, it was without doubt one of the best decisions Iโve made for both myself and my family.
Not long after starting MBPT, my wife and I started a family. Being self-employed gave me the flexibility to be there for 2 young kids while still building a business that could support us through an ever-changing economic climate. That balance has meant everything.
The stereotypical personal trainer is often loud, ultra-confident and always selling themselves. Thatโs never really been me.
Iโve always been more reserved. Iโm confident in the coaching I provide and the care I give to every one-to-one client, group member and event participant, but Iโve never been one to shout about it.
Maybe that approach has cost me some opportunities over the years. But Iโd like to think itโs also helped me attract people who value honesty, a natural realistic approach and hardworking individual.
This time last year, I was only a few months into moving all of my clients into my new home at Evolution. The move has been a huge success, and I canโt thank the team at Evolution enough for providing such a fantastic facility and creating such a welcoming environment for both me and my clients.
Another highlight from the last year was our charity fundraising.
Together, we raised over ยฃ18,000 for Movember, taking our 7-year fundraising total to more than ยฃ63,000. Thatโs something Iโm incredibly proud of, and itโs only possible because of the amazing support from everyone who gets involved.
Last year I took on one of my biggest personal challenges to raise money for the charity. This year, Iโm planning to go even biggerโฆ details coming soon! ๐
Finally, thank you to every clientโpast and presentโfor trusting me with your health and fitness. Whether youโve trained with me one-to-one, attended group classes, taken part in events or simply supported the business along the way, youโve all played a part in these eight incredible years.
Hereโs to the next chapter. Thank you for being part of the journey. โค๏ธ

Play as long as you can, as you are a long time retired.
Been told this for a long time now and sticking to it.
The body is not what it used to be and the wear and tear is now catching up but when injury free the engine is strong and the experience is high๐
๐กโซ๏ธ BUTLERโS BACK ๐กโซ๏ธ
We are delighted to confirm that Mark Butler has re-signed for the 2026-27 season.
The 38-year-old midfielder had a great middle to end of the season, cementing a place in the starting XI before an injury cut his season short.
Mark picked up the Goal of the Season award for his strike against Saltcoats Victoria.
Great to you have back!
Mark is available to sponsor for ยฃ50 for the season.

We are back again for our annual cycle adventure across the Cowal peninsula.๐
5 ferries and 4 cycle sections in one day.๐ช๐ผ
I have been doing this cycle annually for over 10 years now and although Iโm not a regular cyclist I always look forward to this day.๐
The day itself is challenging with many steep inclines and requires a level of fitness and endurance.
I would recommend a road bike for the day although a hybrid would also be appropriate.
Itโs a tough day but very rewarding as you take in the stunning scenery of the route.
For more details or if you would like to join us on the day please send a DM to the page.

Saturday 4th July
This year we are taking on a munro based in Argyll called Ben Cruachan.
This is classed as one of the more testing munros and will be an excellent challenge for us.
The start of the climb is at Loch Awe which is roughly 30 minutes from Oban.
We will be taking our own transport although there may be spaces in some cars.
After the climb some of us are going to reward ourselves with some dinner and drinks in Oban with an overnight stay. This is optional but the more the merrier.
If you are interested in joining us then please get in touch and we can finalise the finer details of the day.
All welcome although a level of fitness and some sort of hill climb experience recommended.
DM for further details๐๐
