⚽️🏆 WORLD CUP FEVER IS HERE! 🏆⚽️

England take on Costa Rica tonight in their final friendly before the World Cup gets underway tomorrow. The big question is… what do we think of Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI? 🤔

Has he finally settled on his strongest side, or is he still tweaking formations and giving players one last chance to stake their claim? Whatever your thoughts, tonight should give us the clearest indication yet of how England will line up when the tournament begins.

And when England’s World Cup campaign reaches its final group game, we’ve got the perfect place to watch it…

🟡⚫️ CHAIRMAN’S UPDATE

Evening everyone

Long post alert! 😃 Always plenty to say 🤪

Appreciate if you could take a couple of minutes to read the below.

With nominations out for the AGM, I just wanted to confirm I won’t be standing for chairman at this year’s AGM.

Chair wasn’t ever something I strived to be, my focus was always helping make the club the best it could be, but after being asked to join the committee and then take the Chair, here we are 4 years later! 😃

l’ve always given it my all, but always said if someone felt they could do things better I’d step aside, as the club becoming the best it can be is all that matters, so with there being interest in the role this year I can pass the baton knowing there is a successor.

Hugely proud to have been Chair for the last 4 years, the club is in my blood from way back in 1991, and I’m over the moon with what we’ve achieved, and what’s now in place to take us forward even more.

Alongside my committee colleagues past/ present an incredible amount of work has put the club in a position it’s never been in before, and although i couldn’t possibly claim to be responsible for it all, I take huge pride in being part of so many improvements and achievements in those 4 years, as should everyone involved 👏.

3️⃣2️⃣ in every age from U5 to seniors.
⚽️ Full pathway developed for U18’s, reserves and 1st team.
🏆 Multiple cup and league successes year on year, that are increasing! 💪
🤝 Coach liaison role introduced.
👨‍🎓 Around 50 qualified coaches.
📖 Opportunities introduced for older juniors to complete coach qualifications.
🔴🟡 Increased amount of junior and club referees.
🗣️ Coaches meetings introduced.
🟢 Pitch maintenance taken in house & paying contractors not council.
🚜 Own machinery for first time ever
🟩 Pitches better than ever 👏.
🥅 Goals replaced at Bronte for first time in many many years.
❄️ More winter facilities than ever before, with further increase incoming once I finish setting it up.
📑 Process of legally binding agreement with council for Bronte underway.
🥅 Investment in further goals to allow more matches on Astro in winter.
🐝 Snack hive thriving, the best matchday offering about in my opinion.
📱 Social media best it’s ever been
💭 Early conversations on future infrastructure projects to improve Bronte.
🛡️ Club person of year award reintroduced.
🗳️ 3 x Oakworth nominations for
2026 FA grassroots awards &
1 shortlisting.

and most importantly, around 4️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ kids and adults playing regular football in our community.

There’s probably so many things I’ve forgotten, but thanks to everyone who’s contributed, I’ve always put my head above the parapet for what’s best for the club, and always will, whether that’s with people within the club, councillors, the league or FA, and that naturally brings criticism and healthy debate & disagreements, but I think I hand over with the club in a lot better position than 4 years ago.

I’ll still be involved as I’ll be coaching mine & Lee’s team, and will likely have some form of other role, I’ll definitely also still be one of Bronte’s loudest that you can hear from Oakworth Road 😀, so I’ll still be firmly part of things.

Naturally this role has taken a lot of my time, so this will also allow me to look at things such as coaching work and maybe my UEFA B badge, as I haven’t taken these forward due to my commitment to my club roles. It will also give me chance to work on improving as a coach and creating an even better environment for mine and Lee’s team.

My wife may also start to remember what I look like!

Before that it’s a busy summer of half a dozen tournaments for our team, lucky boys 😃!, and Oakfest 🟡⚫️.

It’ll be business as usual for now with my continuing my work until the AGM where I’ll run the meeting and formally handover, as well as any crossover if needed to help with smooth transition, so as usual shout if you need me.

Sorry again for the long post, just wanted everyone to be kept updated.

Thanks for your support

Cheers guys 💛🖤
Andy

🖤 WEST RIDING FA AWARD SHORTLIST SUCCESS 💛

We’re absolutely delighted to share that our very own Seb Watts has been shortlisted for the West Riding FA Grounds Team of the Year Award as part of the 2026 Grassroots Awards! 🤩👏

Seb has made the final three for the West Riding FA area, with the winner progressing to the national shortlist.

It’s no secret that the pitches at Bronte are the best they’ve been in years, and that is in no small part down to the incredible hard work of Seb and Alice. Between them they work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our games on, whatever the weather, and have created what are arguably some of the best grassroots pitches in the area. ⚽🌱

We’d also like to give a shout-out to Phil and Andy, who were also nominated for an award. While they didn’t make the shortlist on this occasion, being nominated is fantastic recognition! Well done 👏

A massive thank you to Seb and Alice for everything you do for Oakworth Juniors. This recognition is thoroughly deserved and we couldn’t be prouder.

Good luck, Seb – the whole Oakworth Juniors family is behind you! 💛🖤👏

🖤💛 BIG CLUB NEWS! 💛🖤

As if FIVE tournament wins this weekend wasn’t enough positivity for one weekend… we’ve got even more exciting news to share!

We are delighted to announce a brand new team for the 2026/27 season…

🔥 Introducing Oakworth Seniors Reserves! 🔥

As a club, we’re passionate about creating a strong player pathway from junior football right through to the senior game. This next step is a huge milestone in that journey and something we’ve been working towards for some time.

The new Reserve team will bring together the experience and leadership of some of our current senior players with the energy, talent and ambition of our 17 and 18-year-old players making the transition from junior football.

This is about giving our young players a genuine opportunity to continue their football journey in black and yellow, developing within a club they know, trust and love. 🖤💛

It’s an exciting time to be part of Oakworth Juniors and Oakworth Seniors as we continue to grow, strengthen our pathway and build for the future.
