RESULTS GW9! ⭐️
Bittersweet on and off the field this weekend at Long Lee.
The 1XI produced another phenomenal performance, restricting Skipton CI Cricket Club to just 73! Aqib was the pick of the bowlers with 4/7, while departing Qasim opened the bowling with figures of 3/22. Further wickets from Shahbaz (2) and Tommy (1) set up a second innings chase we wish we could have every week! In a changed-up batting order, Ben (31) and Qasim (15) opened the batting with a 48-run opening partnership, setting up Waqas and James to knock off the remaining runs for the loss of just two wickets.
The 2XI faced a difficult opponent in Bowling Baptist CC in the Cowling Cup, and it proved to be a tough afternoon all round. Our opponents batted first and posted 132/5 from their 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers, yet again, was Yasser with 2/24. One wicket each from Danny, Simon and Zakki helped limit the score as much as possible. At 4/4, it looked all but over for the twos. Yasser (37*) and Zakki (29) did what they could to limit the damage and try to force a result, but Long Lee finished on 86 after batting out their overs, losing the tie by 46 runs.
The second slide shows Big Qasim’s stats during his short time with LLCC. He joined us at just 15 and made an immediate impact, taking wickets at crucial moments and helping us secure promotion back to Div 2 at the first attempt. We wish him the very best for his new chapter in York, and we know that wherever he chooses to play cricket, he will be a key part of their team. Good luck, Qasim!
With the cup competitions now completed, we turn our full focus back to the league. The firsts travel to Cononley Cricket Club, while the seconds welcome Denholme Cricket Club to Golden View.

RESULTS GW7 ⭐️⭐️
The exemplary league form continues for the 1XI, who made it four wins on the bounce and remain the only undefeated team in Div 2. But boy, did they do it in style! A commanding victory at home to Bradley Cricket Club started with Tom Butterfield opening the batting with 112, well supported by Tommy (40), Tom (33), and Matt (30), setting Bradley 235 to win.
The firsts rallied around Mark Day once again as he took his third five-wicket haul of the year, finishing with figures of 5/32. Shahbaz kept it tight from the pavilion end with figures of 2/4 from 7.3 overs, while Tommy claimed two wickets and Aqib added another first-team wicket, reducing Bradley to just 127 and sealing a 107-run victory.
The 2XI made a great start as loan players Sebastian and Kavi opened the bowling and took three wickets in the opening spell to reduce Ingrow to 17/4. A middle-order fightback from Ingrow saw them claw their way back, but three wickets for Yasser, two for skipper Sy, one for Zakki, and another wicket for opener Sebastian restricted Ingrow to 156 all out.
A sticky start left the 2XI at 24/4. Despite a resilient 36 from Dilly and a supportive 17 from Paul, the seconds were bowled out for just 80, falling to a 76-run defeat.
Next week, we play our final cup fixtures of the year, with the first team away to Skipton CI and the seconds hosting Bowling Baptist CC in the Cowling Cup.

RESULTS GW7 ⭐️
A weekend of ups and downs for LLCC, with both teams struggling in the cup once again.
The 1XI entertained Wilsden CCin their penultimate Wynn Cup fixture and fell victim to a hard-hitting first innings from the visitors. Mr Reliable Shahbaz was amongst the wickets as always, returning a resilient 2/22 from his 8 overs.
A captain’s innings was to follow as Tom Tetley smashed 80 from just 47 balls. Valuable contributions from Waqas (44) and James (40) helped Long Lee mount a strong chase, but the 1XI ultimately finished 28 runs short of Wilsden’s total of 283.
The 2XI did well to reduce Cowling to 124/7 from their 20 overs. Wickets from Zakki, Simon, Danny, Yasser and Tom G all pointed towards a promising result.
Scores from Yasser (23), Paul (21) and Ben (18) gave us hope. However, an excellent performance from Cowling’s bowlers, reduced the 2XI to 104 from their 20 overs.
On Sunday, at Golden View, our softball development team took on Great Horton Church U9s, and they were in for quite a challenge. The game was a one-sided affair, but special mentions go to Toby for his 16 runs and bowling figures of 0/5 from 2 overs against a strong opponent.
All of the Long Lee boys and girls played brilliantly and were rewarded with a photo and some wise words from Adil Rashid, thanks to Great Horton’s coach. It was a truly fantastic experience for our young cricketers to meet one of the game’s greats.
Next week, the 1XI host Bradley Cricket Club, the 2XI travel to Ingrow, and our softball team head to Cullingworth Cricket Club for their U9 fixture.
