A brilliant first win for the Seconds under interim captain Daniel Duckworth, with some great support from the side from captain Brighty. 💪

A great all-round bowling performance set the tone, with everyone chipping in and adding value to put us in a strong position. Tim shires 5-30, Duckworth 4-52 and Dilly 1-21

With the bat, the platform was set brilliantly by Yahya 52 and Adnan 31, before Ali Campbell 15 played a nice steady knock to keep things ticking over.

Then came Duckworth 33 not out, who came in and clattered the winning runs to seal a fantastic victory! 🔥🏏

A great day for the Seconds and a great day for the club all round.

🏏Cullingworth CC edge thriller against Blackley CC🏏

Cullingworth CC 156/9 (38.3 overs) beat Blackley CC 154 all out (44.3 overs) by 1 wicket

Cullingworth CC secured a dramatic one-wicket victory over Blackley CC, Yorks 1st XI in a tense run chase that went down to the final stages.

Blackley, having won the toss and elected to bat, made 154 all out from 44.3 overs. Their innings was built around a patient 42 from 47 balls by L Holt, while M Midwood contributed 30 from 34 and C Greenwood added 25 from 38. Blackley struggled for momentum in the middle and lower order, with Cullingworth’s bowlers eventually wrapping up the innings.

The standout bowler was Z Ahmed, who produced an excellent spell of 5/27 from 14 overs, while J Rogers took 3/56 and S Hesmondhalgh claimed 1/27.

Cullingworth’s chase

Cullingworth’s reply looked to be under control at times but became increasingly tense as wickets fell. The innings revolved around a superb 72 from Z Ahmed, who faced just 56 balls and struck 8 fours and 4 sixes at a remarkable strike rate of 128.57.

Ahmed received useful support from B Khalid (23 from 24) and M Dennison (13), but wickets continued to fall regularly. Ahmed was eventually dismissed with the score on 144/9, leaving Cullingworth needing 11 runs with just one wicket remaining.

With the pressure at its highest, A Brooke-Smith held his nerve, scoring an unbeaten 12 from 14 balls, including three boundaries. He was joined by J Terry, who remained unbeaten on 0 from 14 balls, as Cullingworth finally reached 156/9 after 38.3 overs to complete the victory.

Match turning points

* Z Ahmed’s 72 was the decisive batting contribution.
* Ahmed also starred with the ball, taking 5/27, making him the outstanding all-round performer of the match.
* Blackley’s 154 appeared competitive, but Cullingworth’s middle order kept the chase alive.
* The final wicket partnership of 12 between A Brooke-Smith and J Terry sealed an extremely close finish.
* S Hesmondhalgh was also instrumental, taking 4/27 from 14 overs in Cullingworth’s innings.

Final result: Cullingworth CC won by 1 wicket.

A thrilling contest in which Cullingworth showed tremendous composure under pressure to get over the line, with Z Ahmed’s outstanding all-round display and Brooke-Smith’s unbeaten finish ultimately making the difference.

Louie Poole produced a stunning hatrick in our under 13s game v Barnoldswick on Thursday night which sparked wild celebrations from Louie and his teammates. A hatrick is one of crickets special achievements so well done Louie 👏👏👏🏏🏏🏏❤️🖤❤️

Louie claimed the player of the match award with figures of 3 for 1 off his 2 overs.

Massive congratulations also goes to Jack Lambert from Barnoldswick who also claimed a hatrick in the same match.

Brilliant achievement from both boys at under 13 level.

Match Report | Hartshead Moor CC Women 1st XI vs Cullingworth CC Women 2nd XI

A spirited performance from Hartshead Moor Women wasn’t enough as Cullingworth Women 2nd XI claimed victory by 46 net runs.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Hartshead Moor restricted Cullingworth to 123 without loss from 16 overs (323 net). Charlotte Hutchinson led the way with an excellent 31, while Joanne Winstanley (16), Clare Luby (15), Roberta Humphreys (14) and Lisa Rendell (14) all made useful contributions. Despite not taking a wicket, Hartshead Moor kept battling throughout the innings.

In reply, Hartshead Moor finished on 102/5 from their 16 overs (277 net). Claire Traynor top-scored with 13, captain Vikki Hoyle added 13, while Chloe Ashley (10), Sally Davis (10), Emily Barrow (8) and Freya Hoyle (7) all chipped in. Credit also goes to the Cullingworth bowlers and fielders, who picked up five wickets and kept the scoring under control.

There were plenty of positives for Hartshead Moor to take away, with contributions throughout the batting order and another valuable outing for the team. They’ll be looking to build on those performances in their next fixture.
