HI Dance Academy Professional dance training in a welcoming and supportive environment for all ages in Walderslade, Kent.

We offer classes in ISTD Ballet, Tap, Modern, Street & Lyrical We are a professional, friendly, caring school where pupils can learn to dance for fun whilst receiving strong technical training if they wish to pursue a career in the professional industry. We offer classes in I.S.T.D Ballet, Modern and Tap, Teensy Toes Ballet (pre-school class), Little Boppers, Junior, Inter and Senior Street, Lyrical Contemporary and Adult Classes. Children have the opportunity to be entered for I.S.T.D examinations (at the discretion of the principal) which are accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), therefore giving children qualifications in dance that are nationally recognised qualifications. We get the opportunity to perform in dance shows which are held at a local theatre and have performance opportunities at local school fetes. We also support our chosen charity, Demelza House Children’s Hospice, and do regular fundraisers every year. Dancing with us enhances self confidence and self-esteem, teaches good posture, performance skills, is fun and a great way to exercise. Skills learnt with us transfer and enhance many aspects of pupils' lives.

💜 THANKFUL THURSDAY 💜

This week’s Thankful Thursday feels extra special following our To The Stars show weekend 🌟

I’m not quite sure where to start, other than with a HUGE thank you to all of our wonderful dance families for the incredible love, kindness and generosity you’ve shown us.

The beautiful flowers, thoughtful gifts, cards and lovely messages have been so appreciated, we honestly feel very spoilt!

So much time, energy, hard work and love goes into bringing a show like ours to life, and whilst seeing our dancers shine on that stage is the most rewarding feeling in itself, these little gestures of appreciation mean more than you could ever imagine.

As I mentioned in my end-of-show speech, running a dance school is so much more than the teaching and training. It’s about the people, the friendships, the support and the wonderful community we build together.

To see the truly special friendships, love and bonds within our school shine through over the weekend means everything to us. Moments like these remind us just how lucky we are to have the families that we do!

Thank you for thinking of us, for your kindness and for being part of our ever-growing dance family. I hope you all know how much YOU are appreciated, too 💜

TODAY IS THE DAY!!! 🌟

Before the fabulous show chaos begins all over again today, I just wanted to take a moment to wish every single one of you the BESTEST of luck! 💜

We are SO incredibly proud of every single one of you. It’s been 8 months of hard work, dedication, rehearsals, planning and preparation to get us to this moment, and now it’s finally time to go out there, show everyone what you’re made of and make some truly magical memories!

THE STAGE IS YOURS!

Dance with your heart, dance your little socks off, smile until your cheeks hurt, support one another and, most importantly, ENJOY EVERY SINGLE SECOND! 💜

Remember, it’s not about being perfect; it’s about giving it your all, performing with passion and making memories that will stay with you long after the curtain draws to a close.

Take in those backstage moments, the excitement, the nerves, the laughter and that incredible feeling when you step out onto the stage. The day will fly by, so soak it all up!

Whether this is your first ever show or you’ve done lots before, every single one of you is an important part of our HI Dance Academy family, and I couldn’t be prouder to be your Principal 💜

Now let’s do this, HIDA!!! Let’s fill that stage with magic, sparkle, smiles and the biggest amount of HI spirit!

💜 THANKFUL THURSDAY 💜

Tonight was a bitter sweet one as we marked the official last regular class at the hall for one of our students who has been part of our HIDA family for the last three years.

Over those three years we’ve watched her grow in confidence, develop her skills, discover different styles of dance and work incredibly hard towards her goals.

Earlier this year, Beatrice successfully auditioned for Miskin Theatre College and, despite the intense schedule that comes with college, she has remained committed to HIDA and is still taking part in our show this weekend.

Tonight, we presented her with a card and gift to mark the end of this chapter - although thankfully we’re not quite saying goodbye just yet!

Watching a student progress, find their confidence and go on to pursue their passion at college is exactly the kind of journey that makes all the hard work of running a dance school so worthwhile.

We are incredibly proud of you Beatrice and everything you’ve achieved so far!

Remember, you will always have a place at HIDA. Our door is always open, so don’t be a stranger - pop in and say hello, come and take a class whenever you can and keep us updated with everything you’re getting up to.

Now go and chase those dreams! ✨

🎭 ONE WEEK TO GO! 🎭

Can you believe it?! Just ONE WEEK until we take to the stage for To The Stars!

After months of rehearsals, extra classes, learning choreography, costumes, preparations and so many special moments along the way… show week is upon us.

Our dancers have worked incredibly hard and we can’t wait to see them shine on that stage next weekend. You really are all in for such a great treat!

Next Saturday we’ll be at the theatre for our Tech & Dress Rehearsal, and then on Sunday it’s time for our Matinee & Evening performances…the excitement is REAL!

A LITTLE SURPRISE THAT MADE OUR DAY!

One of our lovely parents came to our hall yesterday with this absolutely incredible surprise for us… all home made. Just look at this cake 🥹

From the dancers and stars to all the little To The Stars details, it’s SO beautiful and incredibly thoughtful.

These are the moments that remind us just how lucky we are to have such wonderful families as part of HIDA 💜

Thank you so much Abbie O'Brien for such a thoughtful and incredibly generous surprise - it really did make our day.

And although I really didn’t want to cut it because it was so beautiful… I eventually bit the bullet and did just that.

It was lovely to be able to share slices with our dancers at the end of classes throughout the day.

TO THE STARS FINALE CLASS 2026 - THAT’S A WRAP! 🎬🌟

Today we had our finale class ahead of our show next weekend, marking the end of our extra lessons and rehearsals for our big finale number!

We’ve all had such a blast together, and it’s honestly hard to believe that our journey has been 8 months in the making 🥹

So many special memories have been made with these girls along the way, and we genuinely never take these moments for granted 💜

A big thank you to all our parents for making your schedules work around these extra classes, and thank you girls for all your hard work, commitment, laughter and enthusiasm - you’ve been amazing!

Next stop… the stage! Bring on show weekend! 🎭💜
