AV novice stake today. Great host, plenty of game and the cover was quality woodland, some bits bare, but the large majority, absolutely spot on.

So as the season draws near to an end, an emergency “top” gun was required, the average age of the other three guns was enough to collect the pensions on the last Tuesday of the month. Youth was needed.

Between them, a glass eye, gout, & pure blindness plagued their wellbeing, and I could sense the importance of my role.

With my 1st shot and with my trusted 16g I pillow cased my first two birds, and then hit a left and a right with the next cartridge. A small cheer from the gallery, but this was just a normal start to be honest.

Unbreaking the safety and catching the ejected cartridge in my hat, I crack back the barrel and blow the smoke off the top muzzle, even Clint would have been proud.

As the snow plummeted down the other three guns slowly wilted like the temperature around them. I pulled rank and shoot all but one bird for the last 15 dogs.

This created a Zeus like era with no bird safe, I even heard a grown man cry at my amazing talent, as the day drawn to an end we see some great dog work in horrendous conditions.

The other guns, in appreciation of my efforts, carried me to my truck as not to get my shoes dirty, like a god from 300. Why you must ask how hasn’t this man been invited to shoot at a championships? Randell has nothing on me.
