I’ll always take an evidence-based approach to my work, but some moments go beyond what science can explain. When an animal chooses to close their eyes and trust you… that’s something incredibly special. This job is the greatest privilege❤️

The Science of Rehabilitation
Many owners are surprised to learn that veterinary physiotherapy isn’t just massage.
Massage and manual therapy certainly have their place, but they are only one part of an evidence-based treatment programme.
Following a comprehensive assessment, veterinary physiotherapy combines clinical reasoning with the latest scientific evidence to develop an individual rehabilitation programme. Depending on your dog’s condition, treatment may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise prescription, electrotherapies and tailored home advice.
Therapeutic exercise prescription is one of the most important components of canine rehabilitation. Every exercise is selected for a specific clinical purpose and individually adapted to your dog’s strength, mobility, balance and stage of recovery.
Research has shown that appropriately prescribed rehabilitation exercises can improve strength, joint mobility, balance, proprioception (body awareness) and functional movement, while helping to reduce compensatory movement patterns that may contribute to ongoing pain or secondary injury.
Rehabilitation isn’t just for dogs recovering from surgery. It can benefit dogs with osteoarthritis, cruciate disease, hip or elbow dysplasia, neurological conditions, sporting injuries, soft tissue injuries, age-related weakness, and even healthy active dogs looking to improve strength, performance and reduce injury risk.
