⚽️ The new Mawsley Bees kit for 2026/27! πŸπŸ’›πŸ–€

This will be our new kit, and I think you’ll agree it looks fantastic! We’re really looking forward to seeing the girls wearing it and getting the new season underway.

We’ve got two goalkeeper kits on the way. Lucie’s green kit is currently out of stock until September, so for now we only have visuals of Luella’s blue one here.

A huge thank you to FDM for very kindly sponsoring the team and covering the cost of the kit. πŸ™Œ FDM are a large print company based in Canning Town, East London, but their CEO lives here in Mawsley and is really excited to support the girls and get behind the team.

It’s fantastic to have their support, and we’re incredibly grateful. ❀️

Bring on 2026/27! 🐝⚽️

Mawsley Bobcats vs Oundle

Saturday 5th September 2026 - 10.30am Kick Off
League Match

Before we start, we'd like pass on a huge thankyou to our sponsor TRAKA ASSA ABLOY (https://www.traka.com/global/en) for a brand new home match kit this season including shirt, shorts and socks. Make sure you check out the team photo, the girls looked fab!

We travelled over to Oundle in perfect footballing weather with the girls in good spirits and warming up well, everything was set up nicely for the start of the season. Sadly within 5mins Tori turned to chase a ball and crumpled to the ground with no-one near her. Anyone who knows football/sports, knows that this is never a good sign and as her father I don't mind admitting my heart dropped, especially so soon after coming back from a bad one before. After she was carried off the match eventually restarted and we were immediately on the defensive. Full credit to our Bobcats showing excellent mentality despite losing one of their own so early on. Our girls dug in and repelled attack after attack. I have to say, we were not getting the rub of the green in 50/50 challenges, I've never seen the ball squirm through or fall so kindly and consistently against us. It really put the nerves into our defence who were starting to drop deeper and deeper as their confidence waivered. This lead to more pressure and eventually Oundle played a great through ball and got the opener. The Bobcats rallied and the midfield were working themselves into the ground. Oundle got their second after hitting the bar a couple of times and reacting fastest each time to eventually poking the ball home.
It would have been easy for our Bobcats to fold at this point but they showed excellent strength of character and got one back against the run of play. A brilliant bit of composure by Eliza, beating her player and playing a pass forward, then Eden, Lils and Gracie H all linked up brilliantly with Gracie H rifling home our first goal! Just the tonic we needed heading into half time.
HT 2-1 to Oundle

In the second half we had the slope in our favour and we felt really confident we could get something from the game. Unfortunately best laid plans, after just 5 mins Oundle put together a nice move to create a chance and caught us cold. Legit made a great save but we just didn't react to the second ball fast enough and it was poked home. Oundle took a lot of confidence from this and dominated the next 5 mins or so, but slowly and surely the Bobcats dragged themselves on top and it's fair to say the last 25mins of the second half was almost all Bobcats. Our defence found their mojo again, closing down the ball better, winning it back and playing it out well. Our midfield were working really hard to link between defence and attack and started to play some epic through balls. One such ball was latched onto by Isabelle and she showed fantastic pace and poise to r***e home past the keeper, in off the post! With our tails up we looked the most likely to score again but for some unkind bobbles we would have got a draw and maybe even snatched a win. This all said, a game is not 25mins long and ultimately it was too little too late. Oundle were well deserving of their win and a lovely team to play against as always.
FT 3-2 to Oundle

Player Round up!
This season our player of the match is chosen by a parent vote each match.

Key:
⚽ Goal
πŸ«±πŸ»β€πŸ«²πŸ» Assist
πŸ† PotM

Legit - Excellent hands for most the game, her gloves let her down in a key moment, but good news is that you can replace those. Lots of positive actions today and lots of lessons to take away and learn!

Mia - A strong game against a really good winger. Got stuck in throughout and cleared the ball well when needed.

Aubree - Played her heart out at the back against a strong Oundle attack. Lots to learn from this game but she never stopped giving it her all and that's all we can ask for.

Mollie - Solid game again today, probably fell foul of the ball never falling kindly more than anyone else. Did well against some good players.

Jessie - Keeps raising the bar for herself. Showed the most mobility, desire and intelligence that we've seen from her to date. She arrived a solid player but we are loving her growth into a better one!

Charlotte - Was consistent and reliable, showed off her tough tackling and clever reading of the game.

Isabelle ⚽ - Grew into the game and by the end was starting to put herself about more. Showed off her lethal edge and if we can get 70 minutes out of her like that last 15 in this game, she could be a hell of a player for us.

Lils (Cpt) πŸ«±πŸ»β€πŸ«²πŸ»πŸ«±πŸ»β€πŸ«²πŸ»- Picked up where she left off last season. Showed a level of unselfishness and desire that reminds us every time she's near the ball why she's the captain. She got two assists and played so many clever passes.

Gracie H πŸ†βš½ - Unbelievable effort, skill and toughness today and a worthy winner of POTM. Was up against an excellent full back and tired her out. Showed fantastic skill and pace to score, looked like a threat throughout the game.

Scarlett - Having to manage her minutes with a dodgy leg (from skating!) but always looked like she would make a difference when on the pitch, showing great feet and link up play.

GiGi - Keeps on improving game by game. At times she showed some fantastic one-twos with teammates and was clever with the ball at her feet - keep on working hard!

Eden - Tori is usually our Allen key, but today Eden took on that role playing in multiple positions, even on the wing, and doing fantastic in the process. Her efforts in the lead up to our first goal were not-unnoticed and important to boot!

Eliza - Missed a lot of pre-season but was brilliant in the final game before the season started so we had our hopes up for her. Came on and immediately showed off some solid tackles and clever passes. Then the way she turned that player to begin the move for our first goal was top drawer.

Freya - Came on earlier than she probably expected but was oven ready when she did. Had a really tough assignment against a fast and skilful winger and did great to hold her own. All with that brilliant smile of hers throughout!

Tori - Gutted to lose her so early on and we will miss her ability to play out from the back. Wishing her a speedy and strong recovery.

πŸ’›πŸ–€ Mawsley Gladiators πŸ–€πŸ’›

Today, the two Gladiators teams started off their OGs campaign!

The first group played NN29 Lionesses. The opposition started really well, but we soon got into our stride, making the pitch big and moving the ball excellently. This culminated in many 5/6-pass moves and goals.

Our opposition didn’t give up and defended so well, but the football was a joy to watch! πŸ‘

The second group played Ise Lodge. They started so well, scoring two early goals, and continued to push on, creating loads of chances. Ise Lodge were physical and tough and got themselves back into the game for a period, but then the boys started moving the ball again and started looking really good.

πŸ’›πŸ–€ Mawsley Lionesses make their league debut!πŸ’›πŸ–€

Yesterday, our brand-new Under-11 Lionesses travelled to Billing United for their first league game of the season.

After only playing their first game together as a group last weekend, following a summer of change, the girls were especially excited to get their league campaign underway. For some of the team, this was also their very first experience of playing competitive football!

From the first whistle, the girls were excellent. They worked together brilliantly, played some lovely football and showed plenty of determination when it was time to defend. There were some fantastic goals, great teamwork and, most importantly, another brilliant learning experience for our newer players, who all settled in superbly.

A really positive first league game for the Lionesses β€” plenty to build on! πŸ’›πŸ–€

Player performances

Darcey – Another strong all-round performance. Solid in the tackle out on the pitch and excellent when called upon in goal, making some important clearances and kicking well from both the floor and out of her hands.

Layla – A tireless worker who gives everything for the team. She continues to develop in both defence and midfield and always puts in a shift for her teammates.

Lyla – A terrific technician who is playing up a year and looks completely at home. Tough in midfield, excellent on the ball and always looking to create for her teammates. Her corners were top-class too!

Faith – What a left foot! Alongside her quality on the ball, Faith works incredibly hard and is always looking to bring her teammates into the game. A very unselfish player.

Lacey – Always playing with a big smile! Once she settled into the game, she played some great football and almost capped it off with a great strike!

Caisey – Another two goals this week for a player with a real eye for goal! Whether playing up front or out wide, she brings plenty of quality and is always a threat with the ball at her feet.

Phoebe – An outstanding performance in her first-ever game! So composed at the back, playing out confidently, finding teammates in good positions and organising those around her. A brilliant debut.

Charlotte – Another debutant who impressed from the first whistle. Playing on the right, she worked tirelessly, helped out defensively with some solid tackling and was delighted to set up Rosie for a goal!

Harper– Just her second game, but once again she looked composed and unfazed under pressure. She worked brilliantly alongside Maisy in defence and handled a tough opponent really well.

Millie – Understandably nervous before her first game, but once she settled in, she grew into it brilliantly. A real handful up front, she showed lots of promise and came very close to getting herself a goal!

Maisy – The character of the team and a fantastic leader for the newer players, always offering guidance and support. Excellent in goal during the first half, helping to launch attacks with some great passing and kicking, before putting in a resolute defensive performance out on the pitch.

Rosie – A top player who made an immediate impact when she came on. She helped lift the team and, on another day, could easily have added more goals, but for some fantastic saves from the Billing goalkeeper. She is going to be a real asset to this team!

🐾 SEASON OPENER | MAWSLEY THUNDERCATS U14 GIRLS 🐾

Finally, the season was upon us! πŸ”₯

The Mawsley Thundercats U14 girls welcomed newly promoted Kingsthorpe Jets Typhoons for our first game of the new season.

We knew we were in for a fight, and the girls looked equally ready to do battle. πŸ’ͺπŸ–€πŸ’›

The game started with Mawsley putting some good passing patterns together and showing some promising link-up play. We had a couple of early sights of goal, but nothing too meaningful.

Kingsthorpe looked dangerous on the break and, after 10 minutes, caught our back line napping. A clever finish put the visitors ahead 0-1. ⚽️

The Thundercats knew they needed to settle, but the play became very scrappy and we gave the ball away far too often.

Despite an inconsistent first half, we still looked the more likely side to equalise, with the Kingsthorpe goalkeeper producing some incredible saves to keep her side in front.

Then, late in the half, a brilliant weaving run from Mariah saw her brought down inside the box. PENALTY! πŸ₯…

Mariah stepped up and calmly dispatched it into the bottom-right corner to make it 1-1. ⚽️πŸ”₯

Half time: Mawsley 1-1 Kingsthorpe

The second half followed a similar pattern. Our possession was inconsistent and we still didn’t quite look like ourselves, but we continued to create the better opportunities and looked the more likely team to go in front.

Lily D and Mariah continued to drive forward, causing plenty of problems and creating a bit of mayhem for the Kingsthorpe defence.

And still, that goalkeeper kept pulling off save after save!

Eventually, though, the pressure told.

A clever run and brilliant finish from Mariah gave the Thundercats the lead 2-1. ⚽️⚽️πŸ”₯

From there, it was about game management. Slow the game down, stay disciplined and see the result out.

And that’s exactly what the girls did. πŸ‘Š

It certainly wasn’t our best performance, and we know there is plenty to work on. But to not play at our best and still find a way to win is the sign of a good team.

The girls grafted from start to finish, battled through a difficult game and got the result we wanted. πŸ–€πŸ’›

πŸ… MAWSLEY TIGERS πŸ…

Mawsley 8–2 Prestbury

Today we entertained Prestbury in our League Cup group.

We know little about them, but we wanted to try and show what we have been working on all summer in terms of our ball retention. We have endlessly been working on it at training, and I think you saw it today.

After the first five minutes, I was really happy with us today. We just couldn’t take our chances for so long. We made two mistakes today and were punished for both. We created probably 17/18 chances, but it took so long for us to become clinical.

Sienna – What a character she is! Distribution was top drawer today, and she came off her line excellently. Really good addition.

Bella – Spoke on Wednesday about the sort of right-back I want her to be, and she did it so well, joining in, creating and scoring a goal.

Emilia – Better and better as the game progressed. She has had a good summer and is keen to build on that.

MK – Really good today. Sloppy with one goal, but a really good skipper’s performance.

Pippa – Excellent as well. Quick and showed her amazing feet several times.

Erin – Solid show from Erin. She was aggressive attacking the ball and played some nice balls out of defence.

Zara – After her horrible injury, we are striving to get that confidence back with her. Saw some brilliant things in there today.

Lilliarna – Great energy today from Lilliarna. Really delighted with her work with and without the ball.

Nellie – Slow start, clearly worried about her leg, then bang, she clicked into gear and got hold of it, with lots of bursting runs.

Elodie – Another good display. Won the first ball and tried to make some great passes.

Amelia – Very good. Had moments where she was having one of her β€œI have to fix this” moments for 20 minutes, but she was involved in so much of the good stuff we did.

Alexa – Like a different kid since April. Was a constant threat, and you could see her confidence grow minute by minute.

Grace H – Excellent today. Got hold of it well, used her body and got herself a good striker’s goal.

Phoebe – Brill display, especially in the holding role. Really impressed me today. She has a calmness on the ball.
