I just read this article about someone getting back into kickboxing in their 40s having trained as a teen.

It's interesting hearing about her experience. Its never too late to take up martial arts again.

A moment that changed me: I was turning 40 with an arthritis diagnosis – on a whim I took up my favourite teen hobby again I started kickboxing 20 years ago in a bid to be like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but thought I could never manage all the punching and jumping. It turns out I could handle much more than I thought

Sunday kung fu is one of the favourite classes of our students. A great chance to get a great session done then get on with the rest of the day.

Yesterday was a proud day for East Midlands Kung Fu. We awarded our first black sash to a student.

Andrew Steer has been training with us from the start... I mean the very start, he was my first adult student.

Through his hard work and dedication, over the course of years, he has earned his black sash.

At East Midlands Kung Fu you really do have to earn that black sash. We know some clubs give out promotions for showing up. We've heard about little kids with black belts, we've met black belts who can hardly throw a punch.

This has not been Andrew's journey. He earned his black sash though exceptional hard work, dedication and through developing a deep understanding of the art.

Well done Andrew. We are very proud of you!
