Our hearts are feeling empty today hearing this news.
Many of our students and parents will not know or have heard of Dave Jones but everyone in the local theatre world will have and he has been involved one way or another with every organisation that would have taken to the stage locally.
Starlight shows today owe so much to the legacy of Dave Jones. Some of the most memorable moments and sets were down to his skill, knowledge and ingenuity.
Our infamous wrecking ball, our Goonies pirate ship, our fantastic plastic set and ball pit, the iconic runway that went into the audience, our Asylum set and way way more was all down to Dave making it happen.
He gave up his time and dedicated his life to behind the scenes at the theatre. He literally would not stop until a job was done because in the end it needed doing.
It’s really only now, hearing this news and looking back, that the true impact that Dave had on the history of Starlight is understood and whilst we thanked him after each job we perhaps didn’t thank him enough for all he did.
Rest in Peace Dave, and from the bottom of our hearts thank you so much for all you did for us and our students. You did for all of us more than we ever really acknowledged.
With the heaviest of hearts, we share the incredibly sad news of the passing of our Technical Manager, Dave Jones.
Dave was truly one of a kind. One of the most knowledgeable people we have ever had the privilege of knowing, he seemed to have an answer for everything and if he didn’t, he’d probably find one!
But beyond his incredible technical knowledge and talent, Dave was a wonderfully loving, supportive and genuinely funny man. He was someone you could rely on, someone who was always willing to help, and someone who had a way of making even the most stressful moments a little lighter.
Dave gave so much of himself to Irchester Players. Behind the scenes, quite literally, he helped bring our productions to life, but his impact went far beyond the technical side of things. He became a friend, a mentor and a huge part of our Players family.
There will be an enormous space backstage without him, and we know every one of us will feel his absence.
Thank you, Dave, for everything you gave to Irchester Players, for all the knowledge you shared, all the laughs, all the support, and for simply being you.
You will be missed more than words can say, but your mark on our Players family will never be forgotten.
Rest peacefully, Dave. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
From all of us at Irchester Players ❤️
