A wet start after last night’s rain, but the Shrewsbury course soon began to dry as the sun broke through 🌞 leading to perfect conditions for Round 2 of the Shimano Lazer West Midlands Cyclocross League , hosted by MSW

Huge congratulations to all our Wyre Forest youth riders who took on the morning’s racing. Brilliant effort, brilliant attitudes, and brilliant results across every age group.

Youth coaching tomorrow evening is ON!
This week’s forecast finally looks much kinder, so we can get straight back to doing what our riders love most 💙🤍🚴‍♂️

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back onto the circuit.

We’ll be running tarmac activities for our youngest riders, giving them a smooth, confidence‑building session.
While offering mixed‑terrain CX for all other riders, with plenty of fun, flow and skill‑building across the circuit and grass.Youth cycling should be open to every young rider, and we’re proud to keep it that way.
Whether you’re part of WFCC, another club, or have no club at all, you’re always welcome with us 😍💙🤍👊🏼

🌧️🚴‍♂️ Youth Coaching Cancelled Today 🚴‍♀️⛈️

Hi everyone,Unfortunately, we need to cancel today’s Cyclo‑cross and circuit youth coaching sessions 😥

The forecast is showing heavy rain and thunderstorms, and with parts of the circuit already at risk of flooding, it wouldn’t be safe for riders or good for the grass, which is still recovering from the recent drought.

Thanks for understanding 🙏🏼 stay dry, stay safe, and we’ll look forward to seeing you all next week.

Youth coaching is cancelled tonight as we’re now under an amber Extreme Heat Warning. Please take care in the heat — keep hydrated, stay indoors where possible, and look after one another. We’ll hopefully be back together next week once things cool down.

🥶🥵 Updated Weather Policy For Youth Coaching

The safety and wellbeing of our riders will always be our priority. To help ensure coaching sessions remain safe throughout the year, we’ve updated our formal weather-related cancellation guidelines.

❄️ Cold Weather Policy
Coaching sessions will be cancelled if the forecast temperature is 4°C or below at 6:00 PM on the day of coaching (the scheduled start time for coaching).
This policy has been introduced because:
🔵 Track Conditions: Low temperatures significantly increase the likelihood of ice and frost forming on the track, creating a risk of falls and injury.
🔵 Rider Welfare: Prolonged exposure to very cold temperatures can increase the risk of riders becoming unwell.

☀️ Hot Weather Policy
We are also introducing a hot weather policy to protect riders during periods of extreme heat.

If the forecast temperature is above 30°C at 6:00 PM on the day of coaching, that coaching session will be cancelled.

If the forecast temperature is between 28°C and 30°C, we will aim to run an alternative water play and cooling session instead of normal coaching activities, where practical and safe to do so.

This policy has been introduced because high temperatures can increase the risk of:
🔵 Dehydration
🔵 Heat exhaustion
🔵 Heat stroke

All decisions will be based on the Met Office forecast for DY13 and any decision will be made by Noon (12PM) on the day of coaching and communicated via the WhatsApp Community and Facebook.

Weather Policy Summary
❄️ 4°C or below → Coaching cancelled
✅ 5°C to 27°C → Normal coaching session
💦 28°C to 30°C → Water play/cooling session (where possible)
☀️ Above 30°C → Coaching cancelled

GRAVEL RIDE — FORESTER 50KM

We’re rolling out on Saturday 22 August from Stourport Sports Club for a 50km mix of lanes and proper gravel goodness.Whether you’re chasing adventure, building confidence, or just love riding together, this one’s for you.

All abilities welcome.
Members £5 / Non‑members £10.

Snacks and drinks waiting at the finish, support along the route, and those classic Wyre Forest Cycle Club good vibes throughout.

✨ Youth Coaching Returns — Updated Thursday Night Sessions

Cyclo‑cross season is here, and our Thursday evenings have had a refresh to make sure every rider gets the right mix of fun, skills and challenge.

🚴 6:00pm — Road Group
For younger riders and anyone who isn’t doing cyclo‑cross this season. A friendly, confidence‑building session on smooth tarmac.
🌱 6:00pm — CX Foundations Group
For our younger or less experienced cyclo‑cross riders. Early‑session CX skills with plenty of support, fun and progression.
⚡ 7:15pm–8:30pm — Advanced CX Group
For experienced, confident youth riders aiming to sharpen technique, boost speed and push their cyclo‑cross performance.

💛 Open to All Youth Riders
Every session is welcoming, inclusive and designed to help riders grow, smile and enjoy cycling 😁

Just a quick reminder to say there is no youth coaching tonight or next week, as the coaches are on their holidays 😁
The circuit will be open for all club members to use during these times(6pm-8pm)

We'll be back on the 30th and we'll begin CX sessions so get those knobbly tyres ready 👊🏼💙🤩
