|| Appeal for information- Reference 26000555942 ||

Officers are investigating an arson which occurred in a field at the junction of Park Hill and Staveley Lane on Wednesday 16th September 2026 at approximately 09:50am -10:10am and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area to come forward.

Police received an emergency call to say there is a large amount of fly tipped waste that has been deliberately set on fire.

If you were in the area at the time, please think back to anything you may have seen or heard.

If you have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around that time of the incident, officers would like to hear from you, this could include evidence that may assist with the investigation.

Good Evening,

Due to a recent spate of Fly Tippings in the area, we wanted to give some advice regarding how to properly dispose of household waste.

There are multiple ways that you can do this.

The first way is taking the rubbish to a Waste Management centre yourself. These are designated facilities where municipal or commercial waste, recyclables, and other materials are received, sorted, treated, and consolidated for safe disposal or recovery.

The second way is to hire someone to dispose of the waste. If you do prefer this option, then you need to be making sure that they hold a valid Waste Operators License. Failure to do this can result in you being prosecuted for breaching your legal household duty of care, under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, If you fail to take reasonable measures to check that the person or business to whom you are handing over your waste is registered as a waste carrier with the Environment Agency, you may be held responsible if the waste is subsequently disposed of illegally.

To check whether a business/individual is legitimate, ask to see their Waste Carrier's Licence, which will display a registration number. You can then visit the Environment Agency website and access the Public Register of Waste Carriers, Brokers, and Dealers. The register allows you to search using the business name, registration number, address, or postcode to confirm that the business is properly registered.

If you need any waste moving by anyone that isn't yourself, make sure that you take the relevant action to ensure to ensure that you avoid prosecution.

🚨 FOUND PROPERTY 🚨

A Blue Motorola Mobile Phone has been handed into Killamarsh Police Station this morning to one of our Safer Neighbourhood Team officers. The case contains a bank card from Lloyds Bank.

The phone was found when a member of public was walking near WESTTHORPE HILLS, close to where the old pit used to be.

If you are the owner of this phone, please come down to Killamarsh Police Station before 16:00hrs today. If the phone has not been collected by that time, you will have to visit the Enquiry Office at Chesterfield Police Station as that is where the phone will be taken to.

You will also need to be able to provide the access pin for the phone, otherwise the phone will not be handed over.

Top tips to protect your bicycle:

• Register your bike on the
national database

It only takes a couple of minutes to register, all you need is your bikes make, model,
frame or other identifying numbers, plus take a few photographs for your records.

• Insure your bike - bikes are often worth a high amount
of money therefore should be insured correctly.

to criminals that there are pedal bikes in your property
Once registered you will have a greater chance of getting it back if it is stolen. This is

These community catch up's gives you a chance to voice concerns, share observations, and provide feedback on policing in the area. The officers attending will provide crime prevention advice and ensure our policing strategies align with your community needs. Whilst out on patrol in Killamarsh, PC Hempsey spotted and located a vehicle that had been reported stolen over the border in South Yorkshire.
The vehicle has now been identified, recovered, with enquiries ongoing.

Preventing doorstep crime

Doorstep crime can include rogue traders, offering home improvement or gardening services, or bogus callers who claim to be the council, police, health carers or energy companies. If in doubt - keep them out.

Rogue traders may:
* Say they are in the area and have spotted a problem with your home or garden.
* Claim to have materials left over from another job, like paving or tarmac.
* Try to pressurise you to buy goods or sign up for services on the spot.
* Offer to carry out work cheaply, but charge an extortionate price after it has been completed.
* Offer to drive you to a bank so you can withdraw money to pay them.
* Provide false names, addresses or telephone numbers.
* A pedlar is someone who calls at your door to sell items that they have on offer. This can often include cleaning or household goods.
* By law, they are required to carry a pedlar’s certificate, which are issued by the police force in the area where they live.

Bogus callers may:
* Claim to be working for the council, water, gas or electric company. They could also say they are a nurse, doctor or from the police.
* Say they need to come into your home, or try to get you to go outside.
* Try to distract you so they can steal your money.
* Can be male, female or even children.

Tips to keep you safe
* Check the identity of any caller. Confirm who they are by calling the company they work for using number from the telephone directory or a bill.
* Ask a neighbour to come around to check them before you open the door.
* Tell them to come back at a time when someone will be at home with you.
* Keep doors and windows locked and use the door chain every time you answer the door.
