The new league season starts next week with a home match for the Dragons, but tonight we have the juniors mostly on holiday so a perfect time to come along and learn to play chess in a relatively quieter place. Last night the first round of the Ayrshire Championship took place with varying results for the 6 Kilmarnock players, results on the Ayrshire website.

Usual chess stuff tonight at the club, from 7ish. Still bashing the rust of the brain cells after the nice summer break. The nights are fair drawing in, leaf's are dropping and a wee chill in the air.

This can only mean one thing, chess season starts again.

Reckon this is our 130th season and not much has changed, come along and play chess.

Starts at 7, goes on 'till " Have you no beds to go to?"

On another wee note, the Cooncil, in their "wisdom" have published a plan.
Consultation is open and there are a couple of people suggesting outdoor chess tables. This is obviously a marvellous idea and deserves our full support and nagging of councillors, if you feel like it.

Anyway, back to the main event and all welcome, free tuition, see you there.

Las t night of the season tonight, Blitz event to be had if enough of you turn up by 7:30 or so.

Harvey shield retained so an excuse to attend the prizegiving this Thursday.

Normal service is resumed tonight, and the end of the season looms large next week.

Or I need the rest. Perth, Edinburgh, Megafinals and the Scottish Championships all in my summer "break". How will yours look?

No club tonight as other commitments and lack of volunteers at this time of year takes it's toll.

Into the last month of the season with no more interruptions from league matches. That'll be nice.

So the usual tonight and whilst there is not a lot of time left in the season trying out chess is always the best decision.
