AYFL - Matchday 3

Back to winning ways!!! 🔵⚪️🔵

After a disappointing result at the weekend the opportunity came round quickly with a midweek game against Troon Thistle at Kilwinning Sports Club and the boys grabbed it with both hands.

Despite going down 1-0 midway through the first half, they fought back to 1-1 at half time with Gregor firing home from close range.

The boys started the second half superbly and took the lead on 46 minutes through Jamie who nicked in and rounded the goalkeeper.

The next goal was a special one. GK Shane launched a ball into the air after collecting well, only to see it bounce over the Troon goalkeeper and into the opposing net.

They then scored the 4th on 55 mins with a brave diving header from Robbie.

Troon continued to battle and never gave in and pulled one back on 70 mins to keep the game alive but the Buffs dug in and saw out the result.

Today’s man of the match was Harry Rocks. Harry was superb and caused problems for Troon all game.

The boys can now enjoy a well deserved rest this weekend. 👌

AYFL - Match Day 2

Not the result the team were looking for today. A game that had a bit of everything. Lots of chances created by both teams.

The boys found themselves 1-0 down early on and battled back to go in at half time 2-1 down.

Boys then took a 3-2 lead but were pegged back to 3-3 not long after. 2 goals late on secured the win for Shortlees.

The full squad will be disappointed to not have taken something from this game but now the attention turns to the preparation for this weeks game.

All the best to Shortlees for the rest of the season.

Man of the match for this one was Mason. Absolutely superb all game and read the game brilliantly. Also picked up an assist with a tremendous ball in for Noah to fire home. Well done Mason.

Tomorrow sees the boys travel to the Grange in Kilmarnock to face Shortlees 2012’s on match day 2.

Season 26/27 Opener

What a game to start the new season in the AYFL.

A slow start meant the boys were trailing 2-0 early on with Daniel managing pulling one back just before the break. Morton deserved their lead heading in at half time.

Kilwinning came back out in the second half and created a few more chances and Jamie managed to get us back level midway through the second half.

Chances were then limited for both teams until a couple of minutes before the end. An outstanding whipped corner was sent in by Hunter that was put on a plate for Gregor to head home the winner from close range.

A great comeback from what was a scrappy performance at points but the boys will be pleased to get the first 3 points on the board.

The boys dug deep today when things just weren’t going their way.

MOTM was Gregor Lauder. Assured all game at the back and popped up to score the crucial winner. Superb performance. Gregor is sponsored again this season by Alex Bicket ltd.

2 wins in three days for the lads to complete the weekend double header. 🔵⚪️🔵

The second game was against a tough Largs side who we struggled to break down for large parts of the first half. However, the boys dug in (as they have all season) and fought out for the win.

Goals were scored by Noah, Harry and this weeks man of the match Gregor who picked up a double from left back, one of which included a belter of a free kick to help secure the three points.

A superb performance all over the pitch.

Next up will be friendly on Sunday to be announced soon.

A very strong performance and win vs Lawthorn 2012’s at Kilwinning Academy last night.

The boys were excellent from start to finish and played some quality football with a strong intensity carried out throughout to defeat a good Lawthorn side who never gave in.

Man of the match was Mason with a commanding performance at the back. Always in the right place at the right time and kept the lads going from start to finish.

Goalscorers were Jamie, Noah (2), Daniel (2) & Robbie.

We wish Lawthorn all the best for the rest of the season.

Now we move onto Largs on Sunday to finish off this weekend double header before the league split.
