In my 25 years running Blades I've amassed a vast knowledge of the law with respect to weaponry and have helped so many companies and individuals faced with police action and I want to share with you that in the last couple of years I have never experienced the onslaught of outrageous misinterpretations of the law that the police are currently basing charges on.

Today one of our competitors has been charged with marketing a knife as 'indicating its suitable for combat' in breach of the marketing of knives act 97.

There's no mention in the advert that the item is functional or any violent images, but the charge is based on the fact that it is sold as a replica of the Jason Voorhees Machete, and they claim as such 'because of the way it is used in the film, any reasonable person would therefore assume the item was capable of causing injury or death and would be suitable for use in combat or for violence'

You could apply that sentence to any movie/game weapon replica sold as a collectible item - which they all are, someone needs to tell these guys

NO-ONE thinks a movie replica is real just because it was in a movie, my god, people aren't emailing asking why their Iron Man Arc reactor replicas aren't actually powering their homes, that they cant get their lightsabres to cut through anything . . .

People don't watch movies thinking Sylvester Stallone is some kind of a real life mass murderer, no-ones ever said to me, I really enjoyed the film but I feel sorry for the families of all those actors who died on screen'

Violence in movies is not real violence, we all know it's FKING PRETEND, the violence the laws refer is is actual real violence, applying a logic that they are the same is just beyond crazy

Someone needs to stand up for collectors of Movie Replicas and us retailers or there won't be anyone left standing soon.

Devastating news as there is currently no alternative to the national carrier for most items. Incredible they think they can do this, govt wanted to ban delivery just to residential premises was was voted down by house of lords so how the national carrier can just implement a change to overrule parliament, that will affect 100's of businesses (think all cutlery, specialist tools, knives, martial arts items, re-enactment products, collectibles, specialist trades, local shops do not sell these items!! This country is heading back to the stone age

Just some facts on the idea of banning machete/large knives. If anyone thinks banning blades based on their shape or size is a solution to violent crime then you really don't have an understanding of the facts.

The history - banning blades is nothing new, it started in 1959 and has never had any impact on violent crime reduction, the U.S had the same act word for word which has since been revoked but we haven't learnt and just press on banning more and more blades despite all the evidence showing it makes no difference.

Other countries have all the items we've banned and yet far less crime so it can't be the availability of knives that's the driving force, it makes sense, if person A harms wants to harm person B, they will do so with whatever tool is available.

We have more recorded drug offences than almost every other country, drugs fund gangs, add some social media aggression, excess alcohol and then reduce police powers of stop and search while increasing poverty and you have a crime epidemic. There will always be crime, but if you want to help reduce it target something that may make a difference and stop wasting time focusing on things that won't.

Also it's so dumb when I read criminals are buying weapons online, it's just nonsense, uk stores run ID checks and keep records, do you think someone is buying a blade online for criminal purposes knowing it can be linked back to them via their name, address and ID at any point in the future, if criminals were this dumb we'd have a far higher prosecution rate, like 100%.

Business As Usual for the time being, we will be migrating to an adult signature delivery service, coupled with our existing pre-despatch age verification to comply with the new laws which will be coming into force shortly.

While we can continue to trade using the courier 'add on' adult signature service it is a far cry from the specialist age verified delivery service I wish to create and I hope to convince my competitors to dig into their pockets and help get this in place as a priority.

Bit of news for blade fans, the new law is only a matter of weeks away now, but today parliament will debate an amendment that would allow delivery by 'trusted couriers' to home addresses. As you may know, we have been pushing for a specialist age verified delivery service to be included in the bill so we have the option of creating or using such a service, today we find out if that's a real prospect, fingers crossed
