After all the recent wet weather the 389 runners who took part today were treated to a really nice morning for parkrun.

A big thank you to the 29 volunteers who made it all possible and we would encourage anyone who is yet to volunteer to give it a try. It is a very rewarding thing to do and great fun as well.

We had 17 new runners out with us for the first time today, together with 26 first time visitors from a variety of places such as Newbury, Sittingborne, Dover, Dereham and Thetford, all of whom were made to feel very welcome.

Well done Ryston Runner, Dylan Whitehouse, first to finish in 17.52 and another Ryston Runner, Dawn Robinson, first female to finish in 19.49. Well done to you both and to the 58 runners who achieved PBs today.

This weeks Age Graded hero was Newbury AC runner Steve Barnes who finished in 18.03 giving him a grading of 85.13%.

Congratulations Andrew Simms on his 25th parkrun, Wayne Gibbs and Matthew Keens on their 50th and also congratulations James Hornigold on his 50th occasion at volunteering. Well done to you all.

This week will also have seen parkrun hold it’s 1 millionth parkrun.
Since parkrun began on that autumn morning in Bushy Park in October 2004, over 8.3 million people have taken part in parkrun, and more than one million different people have volunteered. That adds up to parkrunners crossing the finish line 138 million times, and more than 16 million volunteering moments helping to bring events to life each week.

A fantastic achievement you can all be proud of being part of.
