This morning was a time of sadness when we paid fitting tribute with a 1 minute silence to our friend and fellow runner, Owen Jary, who sadly and suddenly passed away during the week.

A true gentleman who to all intents was very fit which made his death even more of a shock to all who knew him. Thanks to all this morning for taking part in the very respectful tribute to his memory.
It was infact a nice morning for the 375 runners and walkers out with us and for the 30 volunteers, who did a superb job in managing the event, which all went very smoothly.

Lovely to see 10 first time runners with us together with 28 first time visitors, from such varied locations as York, Herts, Nottingham, Norwich Wisbech to name but a few.

Well done first to finish Matt Thrower in 17.31 and Dawn Robinson, first female to finish in 19.45.

The title of age graded hero this week goes to Pauline Sparrow, whose time of 25.41 gave her a grading of 94.42%. She was followed in 2nd place by her longtime running buddy Linda Marshall, who finished in 23.25 giving her a grading of 82.85%.

Congratulations Alice De Bootman, Shannon Bigg and Cathryn Hancock on their 25th parkrun, Kevin Mummery and Darren Shaw on their 50th, Bobby Skinner, Sylvia Booth and Sonya Doherty on their 100th, Alex Metcalf, Nick Boyd and Jane Jackson on their 150th.

Special mention also to James Munson on his 200th stint at volunteering and Jenny Goldsmith on her birthday (18 I believe although I may have got the numbers the wrong way round :) )

Well done to you all and remember there is whole new set of parkrun milestone tee shirts now available for purchase.

Finally, the Cambridge Town and Gown is taking place on Sunday 4th Oct for which volunteers are required. Let us know if you are interested in volunteering and we will provide you with the details.

Another perfect morning for King’s Lynn parkrun with 366 runners taking part supported by a brilliant 32 volunteers some of whom were visitors.

This week saw 11 new parkrunners with us together with 15 first time visitors from such locations as Leicester, Peterborough, Norwich, Ely, Colchester and Huntingdon.

However, it is a pity that only half the number of first timers attended the First Timers Briefing which, for good reason we are mandated to do. With every parkrun being the same but different, it ensures everyone knows our course and is familiar with the procedure at the finish. The fact we still have individuals walk off with our tokens is a good reason why all participants should attend the briefings.

Today we were 2 tokens missing, both showing as ‘Unknown’ in the results so if you have tokens 85 or 94, please return them when you next attend. Indeed, anyone holding our tokens please bring them back. You only need to drop them into a scanner bucket at the finish. We can recycle them and it saves us having to purchase more.

We done Shaun Mann, first to finish in an excellent time of 16.55 and our Dersingham Runner, Bethany Willox, who once again was first female to finish this week in a PB time of 18.50.

This week’s Age Graded Hero was also Shaun Mann who achieved 90.05% with a special mention for JW10 Lauren Lawrence, who was 5th in the age gradings with 78.65% for her PB time of 21.42. Well done to you all.

Congratulations Ian Dew on his 25th parkrun, Caz Evling and Abby Marshall on their 50th, Lucy McDowie and Richard Fussell on their 100th, visitor from Rushcliffe Amanda Hirst on her 250th and Brian Cobbold on his 300th.

Finally a big thank you for all who took part in last week ends extracurricular running event in The Walks and particularly to our friends from Terrington Runners who provided the brilliant event support. Good luck also today to all of our parkrunners who are taking part in this weekends epic Round Norfolk Relay and the Boudica Way ultra.
